EVENTUALLY!!!, the month the PS3 takes control

Hm. I didn't notice. But there's a big difference between charging for junk that should be free, and charging for stuff that's worth it. The PS3's $600 price tag is worth it, as Neo has stated over and over again. But being nickled and dimed to death for junk on Xbox Live is kinda stupid.

you have to pay for all those oblivion extras in the ps3 version of the game as well, and a lot of them arnt even in the ps3 store.

Yes, but they don't nickel and dime you for everything else (like Dart said). Everything costs WAY too much and content that devs often want free is MADE by Microsoft to cost something (wow my wording is often tonight lol. I think I've checked out basically.

Re: September, the month the PS3 takes control

It's like buying or leasing a car. You either pay a chunk at first(PS3), and not get charged as much after that, or get something cheaper and pay more along the way (360).

Actually, its more like buying a BMW 7 series and paying a fair price up front, or buying a 5 series and getting nickeled and dimmed on every extra feature you get. With the PS3, you get a fair price for the amount of features you get. Same thing with the 360, accept you have to pay out the *** for any extra little thing you want, after purchase.

As for "PS2 still has a lot of time left", yes it does, but had Sony not released their new console soon, they would have been behind by a near insurmountable deficit. Imagine if Sony brought it out in Winter '07. Microsoft would likely have at least a good 15 million units on them, as would the Wii, and I don't think Sony coul make that up, unless they got good exclusives REALLY fast and lots of them. Its will probably take till the end of the console cycle to catch up and, had they waited any longer, they wouldn't have had any chance this generation.

I know I'm going to shock someone by saying this, but so what? Because of thsi "console war," manufacturers and media pundits have forgotten why videogames are around. It's for entertainment. So what if the PS3 would have debuted at a huge deficit in '07. It's not the point. The point is to create something that people want.

It's just easy for me to see the similarities between the PS3 launch and the Dreamcast launch. Too much too fast can kill a console faster than if it came out later than it's rivals.

PS3 IS SIX HUNDRED DOLLARS >:(

That's cool. Don't buy one and stop being a fanboy and everyone's happy. I love how you keep using the same argument but wont acknowledge when someone makes a point about Microsoft being greedy as well.

I don't even get why you spend so much time in the Sony folder. Do you work undercover for MS or something or do you just have some kind of Bill Gates infatuation? Either way, it's not hard to just stay out of the Sony folder if you don't have plans on buying a PS3. Why should it affect you so much?

Re: September, the month the PS3 takes control

no u got me all wrong. im all for ps3, seriously i am. i just think the price is rediculous, and it needs more good games. i also think the wii is in the same condition when it comes to games, they both suck right now! i am 100% for buying a ps3 if the price goes down a little, and more great (exclusive) games come out for it. also, you have no right calling microsoft money hounds when sony is the one charging $600 for a console.

It's like the old saying goes, you get what you pay for. Sony is already selling the PS3 at a loss. Why would they cut the price in half just to make people happy? In the corporate world that's called "bad business." Sony says $600 because it's worth it. Not because they are making mega profit on each console.

With Microsoft, they are money hounds because they are making every attempt to charge for things developers want to be free. The sad thing is they are doing a horrible job in denial too.

Re: September, the month the PS3 takes control

The PS3 needs to come down to $299 before it can be a serious contender for first place in the console wars.

Re: September, the month the PS3 takes control

Well, I believe when this topic was made, Halo 3's release date hadn't been announced. Good luck taking September from Microsoft, Sony.

Re: September, the month the PS3 takes control

i would buy a ps3 for games like final fantasy, but it's really expensive.

and sony is making a new version every 5 seconds (40GB, 60GB,80GB and now the new controler that doesn't rumble), i guess i'll wait for either a huge price drop, or more games (i think the second one it's not far away)

I still haven't heard any official news on the 40GB, the new controllers have are going to have rumble, and new games take time for each console.

Re: September, the month the PS3 takes control

I guess Heavenly Sword didnt live up to the hype according to IGN

Re: September, the month the PS3 takes control

Poor Heavenly Sword :'( That was my only reason to get PS3.....no reason now.....*sigh*

Re: September, the month the PS3 takes control

That's alright. If you base your opinions on reviews, you'll never be happy with a game.

Re: September, the month the PS3 takes control

I don't like how people seem to think critical reviews mean nothing when they blast a subpar game, yet they seem to think those same critics scores are almighty when they praise a good game.

Reading reviews, not just looking at the scores, CAN and WILL tell you some of the pros and cons of a game.
