nice

is it turn based?

More along the lines of Kingdom Hearts. Run and hit. But with an awesome twist. It has a slot-machine in the top left of the battlefield that (if it falls on the right person/numbers) can unleash summons, level you up, or even give you a huge power rush. You'll get better spins with the more SP you have. The game looks incredible

I've kinda wanted a PSP recently just cause I don't get enough satisfaction from my DS anymore and I like to have a handheld... This might be the boost I need to go out and buy it with christmas money.

a solid release date makes this one a little easier to wait for. definitely looking forward to this one!

Whoa, where's all the hype on this game? It's coming out today! Someone post some screenshots for us to drool over, stat! :lol I would do it but I have to get ready for work.

So, is anyone planning to pick this up today? If they get it in at work I'm going to buy it.

Roger that Mai! *salutes*

Full review from 1up.com with screen shots

*edit* Normally I would do alot better, but sadly I have to return to the court house for a 3rd Jury Duty service today (Twice in 1 day...how fun...and 1 from yesterday..). I've already lost alot of work time and money over this...

Well, they gave it a B+. Can't say I'm crazy about the alphabet way of reviewing, but I guess it does make you more likely to actually read the review instead of just looking for the number score. And the review made the game sound pretty good. They liked the game and there was only a few aspects of it that weren't that great.

Here's a little Metareview I found on it. :)

Scores are from highest to lowest.

GamePro
It's so hard not to like Crisis Core because it does so many things right. [Apr 2008, p.76]

91
Gaming Age
Not only is Crisis Core one of the best looking PSP games on the market today, but it also marks the best spin-off Final Fantasy title that has come out of Square's big Final Fantasy VII Compilation effort, easily blowing away such dredge as "Dirge of Cerberus."

90
Thunderbolt
PSP fans, rejoice. This is the killer-app that you have been waiting for; the game which will send PSP units worldwide flying off the shelves - just like what Final Fantasy VII did for the original PlayStation.

90
GameSpot
An exciting and poignant journey that every fan of role-playing games should take.

90
Play Magazine
Crisis Core is a full, complete, dignified game. [Apr 2008, p.65]

90
PSW Magazine UK
Crisis Core is more than a nostalgia trip for FFVII fans - it's a fresh and exciting game in its own right, and arguably the single most impressive application of the PSP's power.

90
GameZone
Even without the Final Fantasy VII moniker, Crisis Core would still be a great action-RPG game on the PSP. However, the game actually adds to the original’s universe, making it a title that fans will definitely want to check out.

90
Games Radar
The simplicity and the gambling factor of the DMW are what make the gameplay so appealing. It’s fast, easy, addictive and perfectly suited to a portable experience.

86
Electronic Gaming Monthly
Core defines "great portable experience." [Apr 2008, p.86]

85
IGN
Issues aside, Crisis Core is a great PSP game -- no question. It honors Final Fantasy VII's legacy. Even the game's music, while not composed by Nobuo Uematsu, is charming and fits the overall style of the world.

83
1UP
It's a game designed to feed on your nostalgic memories of Final Fantasy VII, and in that regard, it never falters.

83
Game Almighty
This rounds out a lot of the mysteries of the events leading up to FF7 and it is a fun treat for a fan to go through and remember a lot of the flashbacks from the original game being fleshed out in this installment.

82
RPG Fan
The excellently crafted aesthetics combine with an entertaining and user-friendly gameplay system making it one of the best original PSP games.

80
GameTap
The FFVII diehard should snag this post-haste (this really does make up for Dirge's mediocrity, honest), and even if you don't recognize the significance of playing Zack as opposed to Cloud, this is a worthy Japanese action-RPG.

80
GameSpy
It succeeds on its own merits while also serving as a powerful tribute to one of modern gaming's most beloved adventures.

73
Game Informer
How much do you love "Final Fantasy VII"? If your answer is anything more enthusiastic than "It's okay", then you absolutely need to play Crisis Core. [Apr 2008, p.96]

40
G4 TV
The dialogue frequently doesn’t make sense, then, and the plot often makes even less.
