So I've got about 252 missions done now, so I think it's time to discuss this game in earnest.
First, to get the bad out of the way - Things I do not like about FFTA2.
1) As mentioned earlier, I don't like the Bazaar system. You have to have the right ingredients to make everything. Then, once they are made, you still have to buy them. And some items are one-time purchase only; meaning if you buy it, to get another one you have to actually make another one in the Bazaar.
2) Also mentioned earlier, the law system. Not only are many of the laws downright stupid, they only apply to you and not to the enemy. Some of the more ridiculous laws: Don't Miss; Being Robbed; and Receiving Buffs and Debuffs. However, I wouldn't mind any of them if only they applied to the enemy as well. As it is, I break the law more than I follow it, since the penalty for doing so isn't as bad as it was in the first FFTA.
3) The job skill learning thing is broken a little. Often times I've "mastered" a job, only to find out that I mastered all of the abilities learned from weapons, but not abilities learned from armor. For example, I have a Geomancer on my team, and I thought she was done with the Geomancer job because when you go to the Change Jobs menu, Geomancer said it was mastered. So, I changed her to a Hunter and I was going to equip her with armor, and I saw that some of the armor had abilities for Geomancers, and that the character hadn't learned it even though it said the Geomancer was mastered. I'm pretty sure in FFTA it didn't say you'd mastered a job until you learned EVERYTHING, including action abilities, reaction abilities, and passive abilities. Could be wrong about that, but either way, this oversight in FFTA2 is annoying.
4) EXP being given at the end of the battle rather than during it.
That being said, onto the good.
1) Some of the missions are just doing errands, so it's easy AP.
2) Adelle's side mission story is pretty good.
3) Many of the new jobs are pretty cool, especially Parivir for Humes, Trickster for Bangaas, and the Gria specific jobs (Ravager/Raptor/Geomancer).
4) Grias are a cool new race.
5) The stories to get some of the secret characters are done pretty well (especially Frimelda's IMO).
6) The Auction House stuff is a nice little mini-game within the game.
Overall, I'd say that if you liked the first one, you'll probably still like this one even with all the different changes. If you didn't like the first one, you might like this one because of all the changes. And if you've never played the first one, you will probably like this one because you don't have to compare it to the first one. :lol But if you don't like strategy rpgs in general I don't think this one would change your mind.
