Thats most likely not going to happen :'(

Im trying to phyche myself for this game by beating all the other Fire Emblems, from 6 forward. Its a hard time trying to find Path of Radiance in a store again though.

Question: Will this be considered FE 11?

nope, this will be considered FE1

Re: Fire Emblem DS screenshots from Nintendo of Japan!

But 3 was a re make of 1 and was still considered 3

because 3 had a remake of 1 plus a new story IIRC

Re: Fire Emblem DS screenshots from Nintendo of Japan!

Now it's called: Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon. Due first half of 2009.

Re: Fire Emblem DS screenshots from Nintendo of Japan!

makes sense... they can't call it "the new shadow dragon and sword of light" because for america is not a remake XD..... but welll just to feel japanese i will keep calling this game "shin ankonku ryu to hikari no ken" XD

"The arrival of a new Fire Emblem is a frightening thing for me. Why? Well, while the prospect of playing this NES remake is exciting, the obsessive desire to keep every soldier alive isn't."

i agree with him, i really really want to play this fire emblem but it's going to make me break so many FE morals that it's going to be painful to get used to it :lol (as you all know i hate letting anyone die... no matter how useless they are)

(PS- to unlock extra chapters during the main story you must have a minimum number of party members... meaning you gotta sacrifice party members to reach this number)

but i am already mentally prepared for that so i can't wait for this amazing remake...that won't feel like a remake at all xD

Oh wait..this is just a remake?

Remake of the very first Fire emblem game that never arrived to America... so technically it is a new one for us and not just a remake.

And now for something completely different, a Englishmen on youtube....

here is a small retrospective of the series

(hopefully with this some will finally understand that marth is not Ike's brother and Roy is not Eliwood XD)

sorry Zi, I had to insert Monty Python humor for Nerd reasons :lol

Man, this Fire Emblem is crazy! It's the first one where I think I've let characters die on purpose. Because you know there are certain characters you can only get if you have a certain amount of people in your party.

I really want Athena, but you have to have 15 party members or less when you get to a certain part. And well, the first time I got there, I had about 25. :lol

i know and i love the fact that is the only fire emblem that ALLOWS YOU to kill the Crappy paladin xD.

in my first playthrough i am checking out all units and experimenting with them so that in my second playthrough i know which 15 to keep and which ones to kill XD

Well early on when Ogma joins you, you get like 3 or 4 fighters. Why would you need that many? I keep the one that already has a hammer because it's ace against Knights, but the other ones...pfft. Killed one already. I might let the pirate die, too. Haven't decided yet.

In a later chapter you get like 2 Cavaliars and 3 Horsemen. WTH do you need that many mounted units? Especially if you already have Cain, Abel, and Frey? So when I get to that part again, they're going to die. And I don't need the sage because he hogs EXP and I'd rather start from the start with a mage.

I might pass on Navarre just because the character I want (Athena) is also a myrmiddon.

that's why there is reclassing, so you can change the class of those units and turn them into something useful.... Wolf and sedgar are average units when they are horsemen but turn them into generals and they will be the most powerful units in the game (they even break the "pre-promoted = suck" rule) because their growth as generals is different than others. in other words, consider keeping Wolf and Sedgar if you want the best units in the game (you can do whatever you want with the others... though hardin ended up being a good curate) however... if you want a challenge in normal mode you should not use them at all.

also keep in mind that this is a remake of the original where there was no weapon triangle, so the strenght of the axe users was useful and the long range movement of the cavaliers was also needed. (plus in fire emblem games you always get a big amount of the same type of units... the only difference is that in here they give you more units of the same type in the same chapter)

actually the best of the axe users Barst is the best one and Darros (the pirate) is pretty darn close to Barts' growth and power, so i recommend you get rid of the other Axe users they are indeed useless here.

acording to a good friend of mine, Athena and Navarre are about equal so it is ok to kill Navarre if you want Athena (though my friend and i haven't reclassed Navarre into anything else so we are not sure if he has potential for something else)

That's why i am doing a "no-killing-anyone-but-Jegan" playthrough, to experiment and see which characters are going to be in my main party when i play harder modes.

Oh, see I forgot about the reclassing thing. Whoops! :lol I can tell I'm going to replay this game quite a few times. :D

so do i :D.

Reclassing can be a nightmare if you want a perfect party the first time through.... why? because it's all about experimenting, so you might get good results or crappy results, you never know. in fact it took me a whole day to finally decide "eh forget it i am going to try this and if it doesn't work i won't do it in merciless mode"

You know, I was a little excited for this game until I saw a commercial for it. The graphics look weird overall. Both the mugshots and the battle animations.

it's a different style indeed, is hard to get used to it, but it looks better on the DS than on a TV/computer screen, i don't mind though because this is the style fire emblem originally started with.

Fire Emblem started out with some fairly well-made sprites for the NES. Whatever they're using for this game reminds me of something out of Age of Empires.
