GamePro reported that Namco will be releasing Soul Calibur III exclusively for PlayStation 2. The game will have 3 new characters, with a 25 playable characters in total. There is a Character Edit Mode for players to create their own fighters. Soul Calibur III is scheduled for an Autumn 2005 release in US.

It sucks that it'll only be PS2 exlusive, seeing how it dominated on the Gamecube last year.

Oh well, i'm more interested in Tekken 5. ;)

This sucks for me! I haven't even played Soul Calibur II, Im still stuck on Soul Calibur on Dreamcast. *boots it up and plays*

Wow, that kind of sucks. It also doesn't make much sense, considering that the Gamecube version of SCII outsold the other two. I love Namco but man, they make some really stupid decisions sometimes. I could see it really backfiring. Most people who bought SCII had never even played it before, but the fact that it was on the GC and had Link got a lot of people to give it a chance. Now those same people will probably be pissed because Namco's basically blowing them off.

Yeah I didn't realy like that either, Link on GC, Spawn on Xbox, and Heihachi on PS2. I wanted to play with them all, especially Link. Btw, does Heihachi even have a weapon in SCII? If he does what kind of weapon is he using? I dont recall him ever using a weapon either.

Different variety of Gauntlets is the only weapon he'll normally get, but it's pretty much bare fist

Oh I see, well whats the point then? Everyone has swords, etc and he has gauntlets. :-\

Oh well he's just that skilled eh? Only if Paul Phoenix was in the game, he would kick anyone ass! <---I know its gonig to get edited! *shakes his fist at Bv* :lol

Well SCIII is going to have a mode where you can create a fighter. So theoretically, you could probably make a fighter that looked like Link and had his weapons and stuff. I don't know how extensive the customization will be, though.

But hopefully, they'll end up making it for the other systems as well and then it won't matter. :)

Yeah one of my buddies online told me about the "create a character mode" thats going to be featured in SC3, I got really happy! I hope they let you create some moves as well, even go far into the button combinations. ;)

But you know, if they don't take it online, it's not going to matter much what else they do to it to improve it. Reviewers will still b**** that there's no online. They did that to Tekken 5.

the second one had alot more to bring to the tabe. amped up graphics bigger and better story mode. and tons of unlockables. plus the addiction of quite a few charities. soul caliber 3 sounds like 2 with 4 new chars

What irritates me is that GamePro states that Soul Calibur II was a "big disappointment" and that Soul Calibur III is a true return to form for the series. :-\

Excuse me, but were they playing the same Soul Calibur II that I was playing? I actually thought it turned out better than what I was expecting. Before it came out, I wasn't a fan of 3D fighters at all; I would have told anyone to give me a 2D Street Fighter over Soul Calibur II anyday. But I really enjoyed Soul Calibur II and that in turn got me into other 3D fighters like Tekken 5 and Virtua Fighter.

The stance GamePro is taking is just sad. It's like they want to pretend that Soul Calibur II never happened, and I don't understand why they would do that.
