Dart, least your not driving a '98 Ford Expedition, takes like $80 just to fill it up, its a gas guzzler.
Bman, it takes almost $100 to fill both tanks in my '93 F150. I would love to have an Expedition. It's a smaller engine, 4.6 DOHC versus my 5.8 OHV, and more aerodynamic than my brick of a truck. I can't even drop the tailgate while driving! It flexes the bed and eventually snaps the bolts that hold the bed on the frame. So I have to live with the drag it produces.
And the gas station that I saw with $2.69 this morning jumped to $2.99 when I drove by it coming home. I hope either the auto manufacturers come up with those hydrogen cars, or have them develop a way to make ethanol not soak up water.

Re: Gas prices.

Well since I got in that car accident I haven't been paying for gas at all, my dad has been paying for it since its his SUV and he drives all over the city in it. I try and save gas for him by not using the AC and just drive with the windows down but he told me that it burns more gas with the windows down than the AC on, he said about someone doing a myth buster and found this out. I dont know though, but I think it depends on the car, engine, and how much you drive everyday.

I didnn't know that F150's had those big engines! I feel ya' on the gas too..I know the gas stations love to see you come around, they get all happy and everything! I bet they know your name too. :lol jk

As far as the AC goes, it always waste gas. Rolling down the windows might create some drag to you car which also wastes gas. So that makes sense. But if you really need to lower the tempature in your car its better to have the windows rolled down on the street. When you are on highways you can use the AC since its a smooth constant motion rather than stop and go.

Well, it could be worse. The F250 came standard with a 7.0 litre engine. That's 460 inches of gas guzzlin' madness!!
If my truck could run on food though, it would be mushrooms. Mainly because I hate mushrooms. :D

Re: Gas prices.

Well today my wife went shopping, and to fill up the tribe-mobile. $30 netted just over a quarter of a tank and she had to go to a few stations before finding one that actually had gas to sell.
I watched the news this evening and supposedly gas prices are going to fall by October. Some foreign countries, according to the news, is committing something like 26 million barrels of refined gas and crude oil. But sadly, the days of paying $1.20 a gallon when I started driving are all but gone forever... :'(

Re: Gas prices.

Yeah they dropped to $2.99 here today too. And I found out that there are now two gas stations that have gas that is 85% ethanol. Regular gas is 10% in Arizona. It's about $1.89 a gallon too. But supposedly I have to modify my truck a bit to handle the different burn characteristics of high ethanol. Apparently I just have to change the plugs to either a hotter setting or change the thermostat to a higher setting. I can't remember which. Or I could be completely wrong and I'll have to change nothing at all!! :D

Re: Gas prices.

Gas needs to be $1.20 like how it was back in the days! Then I can go everywhere I want and not having to worry about gas that much.

Re: Gas prices.

Wow, in Canada we pay about 1.19 a gallon, and that's extreme for us. Just 3 months ago we were payin around 85 cents a gallon. Of course, the reason why our prices are going up is cuz we had to step up the amount we needed to export to you guys. :shame

Is that why my truck is suddenly knocking??? :lol

Re: Gas prices.

Okay, let me explain. Knocking or pinging is a condition on an internal combustion engine that is caused by an inefficient combustion process. Often called detonation. Causes can be carbon deposts in the combustion chamber, worn electrical components, or low grade fuel. I guess a joke just isn't funny if there has to be an explanation... :-\

Re: Gas prices.

They had this whole thing in england not long ago... its crazy though here in alberta, canada because this is the place where a lot of gas comes from! I don't drive a car anyways, so i don't really care, it just sucks that others have to pay even more for gas and it makes me not want to get a car.
