GTA 4

I'm super psyched for it. And you know I'm telling the truth, because normally I loathe phrases like "super psyched," so if I bust out something as ridiculous sounding as that, you know I mean it.

From the screenshots, to the trailers, to the bootlegged videos of actual gameplay, I really think this game is gonna be sweet. It has a GTAIII vibe to it, by that I mean the city you're in looks a lot like Liberty City. The real time lighting and weather effects look amazing, and the city itself is really starting to look like an actual city. The character you play is some Russian or just generic slavic dude, which I think is awesome cuz I love thick eastern European accents. Apparently they're using some engine called "euphoria," I'm not entirely sure what this means in terms of how it will be different from predecessors, but it looks like you can jump onto or grab onto moving vehicles. It also looks like you can put your back up against walls and cars for cover in gunfights, but I don't know if they've confirmed that or not.

One thing that so far looks to be missing is any kind of property destruction. I keep expecting new versions of GTA to incorporate some kind of actual building destruction, so when your car skids out of control and you veer into a corner store, the corner store can actually be damaged. Maybe they will have something like that in GTAIV, but so far I haven't seen anything to that affect.

Either way, I'm really looking forward to this game.

i was excited before the push-back...But so many great games have come out in such a short period of time...the idea of GTA is no longer that ultimate appeal anymore. This year showed you can make amazing games that millions of people would play without killing police or raping hookers and stealin their money. I'll be greatful for GTA IV when it comes out...but I can wait..a while...

But GTA is much more than that. There are games out there that have just as much violence as GTA. Just look at Call of Duty 4, much more realistic than any past GTA game. It's the open ended world, gameplay and story that truly make a GTA game. Not the violence. If you don't like those parts of GTA either then fine.

I very rarely ever picked up hookers, I'll kill police when necessary but that isn't what appeals to me.

ur right, that wasnt the main appeal of the game, and i've loved every one of them since GTA III...but I don't know, I just feel like with so many new games changing the way we play games, Rockstar is gonna have it's hands full with putting GTA back at the top of the food chain.

Yes, but the violence in GTA is much more immoral. That's where it gets the hate.

Im sure we all know that, but we're talking about violence and if that's what makes a game fun. And for some GTA might be, but for people like me, it's the story. GTA, in my opinion, would not be fun if it had a crappy story. If it didn't have that it would get repetitive much quicker.
