Great, here comes another Bioshock... I'm not knocking off either game but, seriously Bioshock had didn't deserve that many 10/10's and same goes for GTA4

I don't think Galaxy deserved a perfect ten, but definitely very high scores for what it did. As for Twilight Princess, if I could change all the reviews, the highest might be a seven. :/ So, no, not warranted.

well in the podcast, the guys said its not a 10 becuz its a perfect game, its not a perfect game. its a ten becuz it is the most fun he has had playing a game since Legend Of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. It's not a perfect game TECHNICALLY...its as perfect as it gets.


EDIT: I really can't stand how negative people can be and still call themselves gamers. It's a great game. Does it matter if its a 9.7, or a 9.9? whatever happened to just playing the game and having a good time?

There's a difference between a 9.9 and a 10. Though to quote myself on GameFAQs when people were whining that it got a higher score than Brawl, "Shut up and enjoy your own damn opinion".

Oh really now? So you are fine with false advertising? It's not that we are knocking off the game. We are knocking off the people that review the game itself. Personally I think no game deserves a 10/10 (even though I reviewed a game off of adrenaline and gave it a 10/10, I wish I could take that back now), especially when it's a game like GTA. I also haven't seen anyone say anything about the game itself here so I really don't see what is negative in what we were saying.

Like Frodus said, we're not knocking the game. As a matter of fact, I probably would give it a 10 regardless what people thought because it's going to be a great game. But reviews should be a lot more accurate, in my opinion.

I agree... I actually do that quite a bit.... I will buy a game without looking at reviews or anything and play.

@ FHQ... I would still give Galaxy a 9.8-10... very very good game... well made in all aspects.

the thing is, once someone says "this game is a perfect 10". that's when ppl are like "oh really? what about the framerate? does it never drop? there's no screen tearing? the characters and environments are perfectly photorealistic?" its like...noo....but its a great fucking game...ppl dont like to see perfection or hear about things being considered flawless, so they look for negative things to knock it down. u ruin ur experience by lookin for flaws becuz some reviewer said there isnt any. things u wouldnt even notice if u allowed urself to become immersed into this unique and engaging experience that these developers gave their blood sweat and tears to create. i just wanna have fun playin these games, if im not havin fun, its not a good game.

GTAIV is getting lots of 10's because it is as close to perfection as will ever be obtained in gaming. It has a long single player (story mode has an achievement for beating it in 30 hours, so I would bet that would be the average time to beat the story) with many, many, optional side quests and other interesting things to do besides the main story. In terms of sheer number of things to do, Oblivion is probably the only game this generation to eclipse GTAIV. It also comes with a fun, well developed, not tacked on multiplayer component. The game graphics are beautiful considering the scale of the game (once again, Oblivion is the only game that comes to mind as a graphically impressive game on this scale). It is basically the magnum opus of all sandbox based games, by the king of the sandbox, Rockstar. Come tomorrow, when people start playing, the doubters will have nothing to say because their jaws will be on the floor and they will be having the best time of their life playing one of the best games ever made.

Well, I've owned this game for a total of 3 hours now and have played for two of them. It definitely has flaws, but I'm not sure if it's because I'm still learning the game, or if they are actually flaws.

Also, I found a bug. :lol

No game can ever be truly perfect... a 10 thus represents that a game has reached the maximum potential that a game can hope to reach. It excels in all areas.

Highest rated game of all time? Yes sir!

Given the flood of perfect review scores for Grand Theft Auto IV, observant gamers were justifiably surprised when a score of 9.5/10 briefly appeared on Gamespot.com Monday. That surprise turned to confusion in some quarters when the score (which had no accompanying review) was quickly taken down and later replaced with the fifth 10/10 in Gamespot's history (complete with corresponding review text). Message boards and some blogs jumped at the change, throwing around charges of "review fixing" and alluding to Gamespot's recent Gerstmann-related credibility problems.

Don't go running for your pitchforks and torches just yet, though. According to a forum post by Gamespot's Aaron Thomas, the briefly displayed 9.5 was just a pre-production glitch and never an official review score. "We never posted a review with the score of 9.5," Thomas writes. "What you saw was a bug that sometimes causes scores to appear on the site before reviews go live. Sometimes that score is correct, sometimes it isn't. In this case, it wasn't." Nothing to see here, folks. Move it along. Save your indignation for the thugs trying to push Niko around.

Every game has flaws. GTA4's flaws are heavily outweighed by the amount of enjoyment we garner from it. A reviewer is a person too, they have opinions that may be slightly different than ours. A 10/10 doesn't mean "omg best gaem evar", like Spartan said, it just means that it is at its maximum potential. No reason to throw a riot because a game got a 10/10.

To sum it up for those too lazy to read, they got yelled at by Rockstar for not giving it a ten.
