With the help of slide tool or flip top cover, the HDAdvance can convert backup/import game disc. For more information, you can go to www.HDAdvance.com

i'm pretty sure it is 40 gb.

targetrasp said:someone mentioned earlier that you can use any hard drive with these two utilities....... not without modification to some. Certain hard drives WILL NOT PHYSICALLY FIT into the ps2 w/o clearance modification to either the machine and/or the drive. ALSO versions of hddloader I've played w/ does not support dvd 9 games (champions of norrath is one i can think of off the top of my head) w/o using yet another program and installing the game to the hard drive from your computer. Another set back to hddloader (again the versions I've played with) is that it WILL NOT support a hard drive over 160 gb and lots of hard drivers under 40 gigs.
Another thing, you do not need a flip top or slide card to use a hard drive loader. you can buy the hddloader online for about $18 and when you wanna use what's on your hard drive just boot off that disc. You do have to have the hddumb or similar utility so you can put the hard drive in your computer and dump all your games off to the hard drive that way. the flip top lids are made pretty crappy, even the expensive ones and make a god aweful noise loading because there's a lot less plastic between the top of the ps2 and the spinning cd.
As far as the legality is concerned that's still up in the air. All this falls under circumvention which I'd suggest looking up, if you've not already heard all the tech tv nerds gripeing about. Sony and Microsoft are adament about making any kind of modding and backing up illegal.

I hate hate hate the flip top but absolutely adore the hddloader, it's kind of a crutch tho, when i rent a game i want to put it on there so bad just so i don't have to wait for that freggin loading time. it does make a seriously huge difference.
Yeah, that's what I thought too. Either way, if I just insert a hard drive into the PS2, will it recognize it automatically and let me save gamesaves to it?last i heard you were alloud 1 single copy of the original (wether it be a cd, dvd, vhs, laser disc, etc. etc.) as long as you owned the original and your copy was to be destroyed or to accompany the original once the original left your possession
