It's good, not excelent, as there are many things I dislike about the game that they have changed. But a good solid title nonetheless.

it's good nonetheless a must have for 360s (once i get mine so i can stop bugging my friend every weekend XD)

It is a very good game. The story, co-op campaign, online multiplayer, and overall gameplay were all very solid in design and execution. The game was pretty much what everyone expected it to be, and expectations were very high.

However that was sort of it's problem, it didn't really exceed anyone's expectations the way the first two did. While the Forge mode and ability to save videos of anything you did in the game were incredible (and in my opinion underrated features) the game never really felt exceptional. It accomplished exactly what it set out to do, but nothing more, and for that I voted good.

It's okay, when you compare it to Halo 2 it seems more Halo 2.5 than Halo 3. They added a 7 hour campaign, some new armor, a few new weapons and vehicles, theater mode, and forge. If I hadn't played Halo 2 I'd think it was fantastic but it's not that great of a game, 7/10 at best. The graphics look great but they're not the best the 360 has to offer. The gameplay is pretty solid but it's nothing compared to COD4 or Gears of War. It's a fun game but nowhere near the best the 360 has to offer, don't believe the hype. I'll say it's a definite rental but not a must have, half way through you'll feel you didn't receive your money's worth. Keep in mind this is just my personal opinion though, some people really enjoyed the game and if you're a shooter or 360 fanboy you probably will to. I'm just telling you that you'd save some money picking up a copy of Gears of War, by far a much better game.

You see, I thought Gears of War was a sub-par game. I didn't like it at all very much. I thought the graphics were very tacky, even though they were well done. Just looking around and seeing gray, brown, and black wherever you are just doesn't appeal to me very much. Even just the fact that I couldn't tell my guys from the enemy when I first started playing it really bugged me. I would often kill my own guys.
I've only beat it on normal, and that's because going through the story again is just painful... You can't skip the little scenes, which means going back and watching them every single time you die. The multiplayer... What multiplayer?!? God... I'm not even gonna get into that...

CoD4 is an incredible game, so no need to argue that point.

I'd say get it if you know other people have Halo 3, and you're a huge fan of the story like I am. And to say that only a FPS or 360 fanboy would only like this game, I'd say that'd be pretty degrading to people that play it. Seeing that you like CoD4 and GoW, both being tactical shooters, I'm not sure how Halo fell short for you, but to each his own...

While I agree with what stealth said, I actually voted excellent, as I find myself playing Halo 3 more than any other game that I have. It's by no means the best game on the 360, but I find myself always going back to it because even though it's frustrating sometimes, it's still really addictive. Also, many of my friends still play it, and that makes it fun, too.

I voted ok. I mean, it's a solid title, but it's not that amazing.

Doesn't that qualify as good?
Well, maybe solid wasn't the best word. It's got replay value, graphics, and fun. No amazing gameplay or story.

The story isn't only in the games...but I know you wouldn't want to read..it'd kill. :lol

And since you don't have online, you can't really experience it to it's fullest. :-\

Ugh, for the last time, the books having good stories doesn't change the bare bones, 1-dimensional story in the games. To give you a comparison, it's like saying the Resident Evil movies had great storylines, because the story from the games was good.

You'll never agree with me on anything. Sometimes I think you go out of your way. :lol

But no..actually...ur comparison is off. The RE movies don't completely follow the story from the games. The Halo books are prequels to the games, showing how everything ended up the way it did.

AH, WHO TOLD YO...not at all Strubes. I'm not sure what you're talking about. :lol

Okay then, I'll give you another comparison. The new Star Wars trilogy doesn't have a good plotline because the Original Trilogy does. Same situation here. The Halo books could be masterpieces, but that doesn't change the sub-par story in the games.

I can see this is getting nowhere fast. There's really no point in arguing. It's just opinionated. :lol

Opinionated? Not at all. Liking the story in Halo is opinionated, however, it's just a matter of logic that different entries in a series aren't bound to the quality of the rest of the series, whether talking about plot, gameplay, whatever. It just makes sense that each individual entry should be based on the quality of that entry, not the series.
