I really believe this is the last year for PC gaming...(2008)

As much as this hurts me I have to admit it. The consoles are finally catching up to the PC platform in all genres. With the inclusion of Keyboard and Mouse on the PS3 and 360 it really feels like PC's run is over at the top. PC rigs are too expensive now a days and its not getting any better. Competitive gaming is gunna go console with the likes of CoD4 and UT3. And since the mass of the market is shifting to console I see no advantage for developers to keep developing for PC. The only thing that might keep PC gaming going is something like Steam, which of course consoles are also using the advantage of DLC but not as broad as Steam. Maybe Starcraft 2 (probably the only AAA title on PC this coming year will keep the PC going for another year but, what if Starcraft 2 is released on the PS3? (High possibility since its Activision-Blizzard now). Well enough of my ranting. PC lets go out with a bang.

Hines, Hines, Hines.... I guess the amount of people on WoW dont count for anything huh what is it 9 million now. How bout the community of Counter Strike, hrmm? 10 years as the #1 most played game I guess that doesnt count either. Or how bout Call of Duty that was even a precursor for the console Call of Duty's. Think of it this way without games like Doom, Castle Wolfenstien, Starcraft, Counter Strike, Team Fortress Classic, Unreal Tournament, Quake, Myst, and others you wouldn't be playing games like Halo, Gears of War, C&C3, most adventure games, and others on consoles sure we would've had 'em but it would've taken longer then it did. So before you start talking show some respect.

no, i wont show respect to pc gaming lmao. its a huge hassle (btw, cherry, i dont want to hear it, so just hold your tongue) to play games on a pc. you have to make sure u can run a game and blahblahblah with a console you put it in and play. not to mention, mouse and keyboard cant come close to a good designed controller, such as the 360 controller

OMG OMG OMG OMG XD XD XD XD!!!! Dont make me laugh its so much faster using the mouse over the analog stick. And if ur thumb can move as fast as my whole hand that'll be a miracle too. As for not wanting Cherry to get involved let him ur not his mother. And consoles dont have precision aiming unlike PC's so you know what on Console ur only doing maybe 70-90% of the aiming in games. It helps u out on Console. Thats why on Shadowrun they nuffed up the PC side of things when they faced against their console opponents. You can go to any I mean any competitive league and see what they say to console vs. PC controls (except for MLG thats all console anyway they have no opinion on this matter).

FTW Fr0dus. PC gaming> consoles
keyboard controls>console controls
PC community>Console community
Less 8 year olds annoying you on the PC. :lol (We can always have the angry German kid on Unreal Tournment..... :lol)

Never, Fr0dus, never. As long as developers like Valve, and Blizzard are around, there will always be PC games.

It will never be as large as console gaming, but it will persist, through the ups and downs of different consoles, like it has for years. PC gaming's been around since the beginning, and I don't see it going away any time soon.

Dude, Fallout 3, Spore, Rise of the Litch King, Empire: Total War, Far Cry 2, Sins of a Solar Empire (You may not have heard of it, but it's shaping up to be great), Dragon Age (BioWare)...The PC is chock full 'o good games next year.

I'll respond to your posts if I want to.

Okay, that's true. PC gaming does have its problems, and complications with running a game, well, on your PC, has always been a big one for me.

Spore still hasnt gotten the green light its still a concept that still gets demos. Forgot about Fallout 3. This Rise of the Litch King never heard of it. Didnt know about Dragon Age. Far Cry meh. And WTH is Sins of a Solar Empire.

New WoW expansion.

(kind of expected that)

Sins of a Solar Empire is a new game from Stardock, who made Galactic Civilizations (a 4x game, that is, dare I say, better than Civilization). It's basically planning to combine the huge scale of their previous 4x games, with real-time combat. It really isn't getting any of the attention it deserves, but I'll be picking it up, pending PC compatibility.

Lich King is a WoW expansion pack. Sins of Solar Empire sounds like a RTS. Far Cry 2 sounds pretty cool. Dragon Age....nuff said. It's by BioWare. :lol Spore....is pretty well on its way to green light. Fallout 3...whats so bad about it? We still have games from this year to play throughout next year. ;) Unreal 3 sounds like a game thats going to be played next year (multiplayer wise)

EDIT: Beat me to it. :lol

People have been saying that consoles will outdo PC's and make them obsolete for gaming for the last 15 years... But a semi-new PC can outperform an xbox 360 any day of the week. And while consoles are gaining other multi media capability's a PC can do much much more than a console can.

Normally I don't jump into these debates since I enjoy both and don't see PC gaming going anywhere but my god Hines. That has to be one of the worst statements I've ever read.

Plug in a 360 controller to a PC and play against other people who use just a keyboard and mouse. I can guarantee you, you won't last.

Gaming PC's aren't that expensive. Most newer systems can run just about anything with the inclusion of a good video card like an 8800GT and those aren't that expensive. Less than a PS3 or 360. The console games have caught up, they caught up last generation. However, I still would rather play an FPS on a PC even if the console has a mouse. Sure, you can blow your wad on a gaming PC if you want to have the best of the best so you can take it to LAN parties and brag about how your computer so great jsut to make yourself feel better.

It is hardly over for the PC as a gaming platform.
