I really believe this is the last year for PC gaming...(2008)

Here's why PC gaming isn't dying.

There's a lot more than Starcraft 2 next year. ;)

Lately I've been excited about SC2 and UT3 (downloading the demo now). However, there are some other good titles on that list. Thanks for the link.

no, i wont show respect to pc gaming lmao. its a huge hassle (btw, cherry, i dont want to hear it, so just hold your tongue) to play games on a pc. you have to make sure u can run a game and blahblahblah with a console you put it in and play. not to mention, mouse and keyboard cant come close to a good designed controller, such as the 360 controller

First off, you can use a 360 controller for most modern pc games, not that it would ever compare to the precision of a mouse+keyboard setup. Secondly, it takes about 5 minutes to install most games and then you can just pop them in and play, but jeez I guess that's just too much work for poor old Hines ::) Oh and you simply look on the box before you buy the game to see if you can run it, again, not really hard. I think your just lazy to be honest, which is the case with most anti pc gamers. And don't give me that "it's too expensive" BS, I built my last PC for less than $500 and it would crush a PS3 or 360. The other great thing about PC gaming is the control you have over a game, I mean, most games come with an editor which lets you literally modify the game. How could anybody not love that???

Actually, he has a point. If you have too weak of a graphics card, you just lost a good chunk of the library. Don't have the money to buy a new one? Oh well, you're screwed. Buy a console, you got five, six years of games, of which you can play all of them. Buy a graphics card, you have five, six years of games, in which you can play most, but two or three years in, they start making games you can't handle, but want.

I just built my father a computer for about $300. With the exception of his video card it is capable of playing pretty much anything out there. Like I said, toss on an 8800GT for about $250 and you have a very good gaming PC for less than a PS3 and a little more than a 360. Hell, wait for the next group of video cards and the 8800GT will go down to around $200.

Also, last time I checked, computers do a hell of a lot more than simply playing games. Playing games is about 10% of what I use mine for.

Now to the OP. PC gaming is getting more and more popular by the day in my honest opinion. I don't see it going anywhere anytime soon. Gaming PC's and PC parts bring in some serious dough, not to mention how popular online PC gaming is getting {WOW anyone?}. I think a lot of people are seeing that consoles are slowly turning into PC's anyways so why not just go with the real deal? There's also a gaining interest in building PC's from scratch which is extremely cost efficient and fun. So no, I honestly see PC gaming just getting bigger and bigger in the next few years :)

Meh. I hear that a lot and to be honest there's not much truth to it. For example, if I bought a 8800GTS which is less then a PS3, I would be good to go for the next 4-5 years easily. I mean, most parts will swap over such as hard drives, optical drives, etc, so all you really need to spend big on is a nice video card. That's the other beauty of PC gaming, if your DVD drive poops out, well no big deal I can just buy another for $25, hard drive breaks, $40 for a new one, etc. Most of these problems on a console will run you quite a bit of money. So all in all, PC gaming is really no more expensive then console gaming. And with the way things are headed, PC gaming may actually end up being cheaper in the long run!

P.S Cherry..specs were as follows-
AMD Athlon 64 X2 Brisbane overclocked
2 gigs Corsair XMS in dual channel mode
80GB Sata 2 hard drive
ASrock alive X-fire motherboard {crossfire ready}
Radeon x1650 video card
LG DVD burner
few case fans, aftermarket heatsink for CPU, etc

All in all it cost me around $480 to build and I sold it for $650 :D I am building a new rig very soon when I get b-day money.

The PC version of UT3 isnt what u might think it is. I love UT and UT3 on PS3 is the better version. They spent more time on the PS3 one instead of focusing on the PC one. But, with a few patches and user content it should shape up better.

Hmm, well, I hear it downscales very well. I guess I'll have to see when this demo is done downloading. As long as it's better than UT2003 I'll be happy. :)

The subject is games though, so what's your point?

Well, people argue "features" all the time when it comes to consoles, so I don't see the difference? I mean, if you want to compare console features to PC features I think we know who will win :lol

Anymore the CPU and GPU does more than a video card. Get a decent Processor and you can easily get a video card that isnt a 8800GT and you'll be set for a few more years. Add an 8800GT and you can easily go for 8-10 years at least, unless of course some beast thing comes out.

I also just thought of something. Even if you play in HD a television can't compare to a computer monitor resolution wise.

Well, you're quibbling over cost. If you're spending more on a computer than a console, which you don't have to, then you have to account for what they do. Since the PC does A LOT more that justifies the cost.

That's my point.

Exactly.

I was simply using it as an example since it's probably the best bang for the buck.

And if someone bought a separate computer just to play games, your point is lost.
