No. Like in Halo 3 or Call of Duty 4, you can get more maps. But those games already come loaded with maps to begin with, not just a "starter pack."

Why don't you play the game before you make accusations about it. And I have made up my mind. Do you even know what is even in the starter pack?

Also, here is a quote from IGN if you want to continue arguing over if you have to pay for MGO:
Metal Gear Solid Online for PlayStation 3 initially is being released as part of the Metal Gear Online Starter Pack, a package included with Metal Gear Solid 4. It is unknown whether the title will also be made available independently.

Re: Half-way through MGS4 and...

I'm actually pretty excited for MGS 4. I've gotta go through the first three, then buy a PS3 and I'll definitely play it.

Make up your mind, buddy.
I fail to see how those are contradictory. The fact that MGS 4 comes with MGO and the fact that you haven't played either are barely related, nevermind in contradiction.

Re: Half-way through MGS4 and...

@Cherry: You really don't need to play MGS3 since that is like a prequel of what happens before Solid Snake was even made. I don't know if they have any of the characters from MGS3 in MGS4 since I have yet to play the game.

Yeah, I know MGS 3 is a prequel but I'll be getting the collection. If I have it, I might as well play it. Also, there could very well be characters and stuff from Snake Eater, mentioned in four so I don't want to be lost as soon as they mention something that happened in MGS 3.

Re: Half-way through MGS4 and...

Did alittle searching on Google (Why don't people do that anymore?) and here is something that may clear something up about the Starter Pack for MGO.

Spoiler for space:
From the play station blog. also note it mentions a special surprise for Monday.

http://blog.us.playstation.com/2008/04/10/metal-gear-solid-4-guns-of-the-patriots-%e2%80%93-product-details-revealed/comment-page-2/#comments

From what we've seen here at Konami, there has been some confusion as to what exactly a "Starter Pack" is, so let's put that to rest right now.

The MGO "Starter Pack" that comes with MGS4 (all configurations, detailed above) is a full-fledged, fully-featured multiplayer component of MGS4. It is not a "demo" or "teaser" in any way, as some have speculated. It comes packed with maps, weapons/items, an in-depth character creator - where your character can be personalized, and most importantly, customized - with special abilities that can be "leveled" and improved through experience, the SOP system, and much more. There will also be an extremely deep community experience through a specialized portal that will feature stats, communication, and other never before seen features - which we'll dig into at a later date...

So, you may be wondering why we call it a "Starter Pack", well, the answer is very simple: because it's just the beginning. We have a huge slate of downloadable content planned for the game which encompasses new maps, weapons/items, and much more. Eurogamer has a fantastic preview up, which is a great primer on MGO, and details some of the unique features that show why it's not just another shooter...

But, of course, if you're one of the lucky few, you'll be able to get your hands on the MGO Beta in just a couple of weeks (April 21st 2008 - May 5th 2008), and see for yourself!

Also, please don't forget to check out the latest KOJIMA PRODUCTIONS REPORT from Ryan Payton at Kojima Productions in Japan!

And with that, we end this particular article. We'll be watching the comments, so please let us know your thoughts, and specifically what you'd like to hear (we'll do our best to address your burning questions, but please bear in mind, we're really busy working on MGS4 among a lot of other great Konami games, so please understand we will not be able to get to everyone's questions)!

Check back here on the PS Blog next Monday, April 14th 2008, as we have a very special surprise in store for you! See you next Monday!

@Cherry: Ah, gotcha.

DONT LISTEN TO HIM!

There are important characters in MGS4 that are in MGS3 (Well... AN important character) Plus, MGS3 has the best gameplay out of the trilogy.

Re: Half-way through MGS4 and...

@Fr0dus...yes.

EDIT: Also, Metal Gear Online is the full game. You don't have to pay for anything except for a second character.

Is it Eva boom?

I really didn't like CQC that much plus I really didn't like the stamina gauge either.

I dunno, probably. And cqc was in all of the games, its just has a name in MGS3 besides "punchin' dudes" The stanima bar... I cant really defend that XD

No I just didn't like how they did some of the grabs and such. Like I would accidentally hold the Circle Button too hard and they would get their neck slit and it made me that much madder.

Nope, cause the interrogate button is one of the control sticks.
