So I'm a waiter now, probably the best waiter ever, and 3 people didn't tip last night, and like 2 peopel tipped less then 10%, I don't get it. I had three people out of 5 give me a $10 tip, then some ass hat gave me two bucks. To be honestly, bad tippers = white trash kids and old people.

Yeah. Tipping is a courtesy that should always be done, but there is nothing to stop people from not tipping. Except maybe not wanting spit in their drink.

I thought in the US you had to tip?
No, that's the idea with a tip. Its pretty much optional. Some restaurants have a 15% service charge to make sure everyone tips, but for the most part, its optional, although most people do tip at least somewhat...

Most people leave a tip to keep the waiters/waitresses happy. Minimum wage (in Indiana at least) is half for employees who receive tips.

Yeah, you should get used to it. However, they should be looked down upon. It is customary to tip. If they have a reason (bad service, terrible food, whatever) that's different. Not tipping just to save a couple bucks is cheap and inexcusable.

Maybe I'm just nice, but I'll usually tip even if the service sucks. I just don't tip as much.

My usual tip is 15%. If it's really awesome service, I might even do up to 20%. If the service sucks, I'll do like 10%, possibly less.

Unfortunately that's the world we live in. I will tip way over the customary amount if the service rocks. And all that takes is filling up my tea when my glass is empty. But if I have to wait too long, I'll still tip because I have something that will kill business real fast. Kids. If the service sucks I'll let my kids loose. Usually it's a few minutes and the service kicks up.

But yeah, people who don't tip should be considered jerks. It's simply nit the right thing to not tip.

its nobodies job to tip you, and they should not be looked down upon if they dont.

Hmm, it is like a common courtesy, or an accpepted thing that everyone acknowledges though..it is just what you are supposed to do..ya know?
