Light Gun Shell Revealed!

O man this just made my day, check out this light gun shell for the Wii controller, now I really want Red Steel! Check it out http://revolution.ign.com/articles/707/707077p1.html

YES!!

I shall buy a Revolution. I shall buy a game that is dripping with Duck Hunt influence. I shall turn on some Billy Idol and blast to my heart's content!!

Oh, shall I go with the T shirt and jeans look with the mowhawk or parachute pants?? Decisions, decisions... :lol

Doesn't look that great. It looks like it won't be too useful for regular games that don't take advantage of the controller.

Im slightly dissapointed by this.

Gotta give 'em credit in the coolness category. That is pretty freakin' sweet. :D

There's a Duck Hunt tech demo playable on the show floor... to match the Neo Zapper.

Wait...are they calling their gun the Neo Zapper?  :lol
that would actually be pretty cool..

@ creepin... I agree... but it would be WONDERS for light gun games :) IT Vampire Nights, House of the dead, Time Crisis, Silent Scope..etc.

Seeing this gives a bit of hope... as they are CATERING to 3rd party developers in this manner.

NOW... we just need to get more games using it!

meh.... over priced peripherals. :lol come on .... this could finally get some light gun games over to Nintendo's side... and I am all for that (being a fan of light gun games) :lol

I gotta admit the more I see from Nintendo on the Wii the more and more I'm leaning to wanting to get this at launch.

Im still dissapointed simply because the controller doesn't need to be turned into a gun. That's the whole point of the technology they're using. That's the reason the controller is shaped the way it is now.

I don't want the Revolution to become a one-trick pony by mostly offering FPS or other shooter type games. The shell was supposed to be for those who enjoy or want to play games in the old-fashioned manner.

I guess I just won't buy this accessory then.

You're the same guy who says one new button is worth 50-100% increase in price for controllers... x-p

Nintendo actually has new hardware and technology to go with this increase, assuming it happens. Such a humorous comment.

Creepin - The idea is that the Wiimote is flexible in all fashions - beginning with initial mobility and use - following with the ability to adapt to standard gaming mechanisms, IE the shell. Furthermore, the Neo Zapper will 100% play different than the Wii mote, much like the standard mote will play different than mote with nunchuck. It's as simple as that.

You'll understand when it's in your hands what these small changes do.

And how many different "shells" are Microsoft making for their 360 controller? You buy one 360 controller, and that's it, you're done. You don't need to buy any other accessories or "shells" or anything like that to "enhance" or "fundamentally change" how the game plays.

I'm not complaining about the price that extra wii-motes are gonna cost (I might if they are a ridiculous amount), I'm complaining about all the extra peripheral attatchments that are going to come out, sold separately of course. That's what bugs me about Nintendo, and that's what I fear. Sure the system itself may only be $200-$250, but once you're done buying all the controller peripherals, connectivity features, Game Boy Players... you're looking at a $500 investment.

I'm not saying this is the case with the Wii. But I will say that it was the case with the GC, and it looks to be happening all over again.

So far Nintendo has made no indication as to what's packing with the system and what's going to be necessary. As far as I understand, the nunchuck and the remote come with the system and so far that IS all you need to play any current Nintendo title AFAIK.

These are all OPTIONAL. Feel free to not buy them if they aren't of interest to you. Nobody shoved the GBP down your throat, don't make it sound that way.

I had to buy all sorts of accessories, like a second controller (at my desire for friends), and the GBP (again at my desire). None of this was forced on to me.. hmm..

It's flexible the way it is now, except for games that require the old standard type control. Of course Ill try it out before I totally knock it, but right it looks like just a novelty.

Gamecube controller. I assume you have one? It's very much standard.

How was it the case with the Gamecube?

btw... having a bunch of different shells would be cool imo... instead of a bunch of seperate controllers.
