Re: Mass Effect, first impressions.
Uhhhh...Yeah, you do know that Bioware didn't make Kotor 2 right?
I do agree with some of your points. (I haven't finished yet...I've barely had time to play, what with relatives being in for Thanksgiving and everything

). You very rarely have to use any biotic powers in combat, and it is relatively easy (took me a bit to get used to, but after I got through Eden Prime, I basically had everything figured out, and haven't died since).
The sidequests were kind of disconnected from the main plot, and I found they weren't particularly good. I preferred Kotor's sidequest, to be honest.
I was disappointed in the exploration aspect too, but other than that, I've had very few problems with the game.
The main story and characters are compelling, the combat, while not all that challenging, is still quite a lot of fun, weapon upgrades worked well, I think, not having to change your party around is another facet of the lack of difficulty (I would suggest ramping it up next time around, if you found it that easy...), and, being that I'm playing as an engineer, it's pretty important, to me, how I level up my party members because engineers are almost worthless in combat.
