Mass Effect Discussion

Re: Mass Effect, first impressions.

I finished the game (only 10 more playthroughs to go, lol). The story wraps up nicely, no cliffhangers. Overall, I really loved the game. Can't wait for the second. :)

:shame you should stop rubbing it in our faces cherry.......JK XD I ENVY YOU :lol

Re: Mass Effect, first impressions.

It sure does turn out well. And while the ending screams sequel, there is no cliff hanger either. So I haven't had a chance to bust out with the 2nd play-through, but I am working on it. I have been playing Geometry Wars galaxies on the DS. It is almost like crack that you can walk away from :-\ .

So what are some aspects you would like to see improved, done away with, or added to the sequel?

I would like more in-depth sidequests. And I want my actions to actually have lasting impacts on planets or entire solar systems. What i mean by that, is if I don't stop some terrorist group from setting off a huge weapon, the planet is no longer a location to land because the place is so messed up. Or if I decide to save it, perhaps some of the best weapons I may be able to receive later in the game might be manufactured there. Or even have these effects take place in the Sequel. After all, aren't our characters suppose to carry over to the sequel anyways? Why not plot hooks and story arc's? As for variety, Maybe the weapons could be individually stat based, so if you had two Mark II Stinger pistols made from different materials they have different stats. These are just thoughts though. The last one would be a bit of a stretch but I am just wishing for the days where there was so many infinite weapons possible. I mean there are several species in the world. Can they honestly believe that firstly human weapons are the best weapons ever? And second, even if they are does that mean other weapons will just cease to be all together? It just doesn't seem right...lol

Re: Mass Effect, first impressions.

I agree with a lot of the things you said. For example *minor Kotor Dark-side spoilers*, in Kotor, on Manaan, if you decided to poison the outside water, to kill a shark that was blocking your way, for the rest of the game, the price of medpacs was increased (for reasons you would understand if you played through the game...I honestly don't feel like explaining them >_>). I would like to see something like that in Mass Effect 2, where your decisions really affect the galaxy.

I couldn't agree more with the sidequests being more in-depth. Mass Effect's sidequests were SO short, and were all based around combat. It just wasn't worth playing through many of the sidequsts, or uncharted worlds, for that matter.

I would also love for them to change around the MAKO control scheme, as it was awful in Mass Effect.

One last suggestion: Make the character interaction a little more in depth.

Overall, the game was really great though.

Re: Mass Effect, first impressions.

Yes this game is awsome kicks ass and the graphics ahhhh those graphics yes youre right get this game

Re: Mass Effect, first impressions.

Im not sure if you would want to give up rock band for it though... seeing as you dont like rpgs and you love guitar hero... but mass effect isnt your everyday rpg since battles are real time shooting and such, you may like it

Re: Mass Effect, first impressions.

So I finally started the second time through, and was completely unaware that you could use the character from the previous play-through. I also find it extremely hard to be a renegade :( . Any tips on how to be evil?

Re: Mass Effect, first impressions.

I've stopped my second playthrough. I'll do what I did with Kotor: I'll give myself a couple week break from the game, then replay it.

Speaking of Kotor, looking back, I've gotta say that Kotor was better than Mass Effect. Mass Effect was a great game and all, but the side characters, and their sidequests were so much more compelling in Kotor, and the main worlds were so much more detailed in Kotor, with actual side quests, involving NPC's. The main worlds in Mass Effect sometimes had no sidequests, and often involved far more combat than NPC interaction (the Citadel's the exception here). I also preferred Kotor's combat to Mass Effect's.

Mass Effect's still great though. I guess I just expected something more akin to Kotor. :-\

Don't ruin the game for us, please. I'd prefer you not to share your opinions.

I wasn't talking about the ending, I was saying that you're ruining my impression of the game by saying it was good. And good luck spoiling an ending I've seen.

and you will probably finally get the banhammer.
Well, where's the fun in that?

I would seriously recommend playing it, even though BioWare is slowly, and stealthily sucking away all the RPG from their games. >:(

This is a shooter/RPG hybrid. If you didn't want that, go play Final Fantasy: Ultra Kiddy Edition.
