What's Up!

Is it just me,or do you find that a lot of video games come with an instruction manual that doesn't explain some of the things you encounter during gameplay?
Personally,it really ticks me off.

I understand a lot of games have tutorial options, even still, the info sucks.God forbid, they should be more thorough with a manual for a new game that costs $55.00!

God Bless,
KAZ ::D

i actually find them very useful for RPGs and games like final fantasy and tales games.... they also have nice colors and illustrations which sometimes is not the case.

Well, you can generally find all the info you need online, so I wouldn't be bothered if games didn't come with instruction manuals.

Blame the people who don't read manuals. Because of this, publishers don't print elaborate manuals. It saves money.

Hi CreepinDeth,How are you?

That's the problem with the world these days.Greed.Customer service is almost extinct.A good example would be the high prices of gas,and along with it you get privilege of pumping it yourself.

Have any of you guys played "Hot Shots 3" for the "PS2"? Any pointers?,I'm gettin' my ass kicked over here.

It's not greed. It's business sense. I wouldn't want to pay for something that people aren't going to use. It's a waste of money.

I got to admit Creepin',that's a good point.

I agree. However, I do wish publishers would stop wasting their money on useless game features and waste their money informing the buyer about the main features of the game.

I'm not being sarcastic, btw.

It's only a waste (to companies) if people complain about said features. In this day and age, the masses demand that they have every feature under the sun. Not just for games, but for all media (eg. DVDs/Blu-ray content special features.)

I see people complaining about unneeded features in games all the time. Unfortunately, publishers rarely listen..as long as the game sells and people like the core game.

but sometimes to me it doesn't make sense that a company or a game franchise with lower than average sales gets cool looking and informative manuals (example, tales of legendia and shin megami tensei persona 4) yet other manuals don't have half of the info they should have and are black and white.

i mean you guys might not appreciate Manuals that much but from where i came from some games didn't even have a manual... we had to figure out everything on our own and it was pretty rough.... it's at least nice to have something to look at instead of having to go on-line or other source to obtain info that should be already in that little booklet

There's something you need to know about the general public. They're dumb and don't think like you. They have little patience and want instant gratification. They make up the majority of the revenue that entertainment companies make, so they get catered to. And these people don't read manuals.

How are you CreepinDeth?

When I first saw "Men In Black",Tommy Lee Jones made a statement..If I recall he said"...Persons are smart, people are dumb.." Is that what you mean?

Be mad at me. :lol I'm one of those who doesn't use the instruction manual (although I do look at it, especially if there are pretty pictures! :D) Most of the games that I play have in-game tutorials. The only time I need to read the manual is if I forget something because I haven't played the game in so long, or if the in-game tutorial doesn't address it fully enough.

I don't blame you Mai. I never touch the manuals lol Unless I'm curious about the background of a certain character (like Tales of Vesperia)

Honestly, if you've played one game it's almost like you've played them all. The control schemes don't differ that wildly from one game to the next as long as they are in the same genre. Even on the Wii, the control set-ups are quite predictable.

Menu-based stuff varies much more, but even then I usually find that the in-game tutorial covers it better.

I would suggest not skipping the in-game tutorials, basically.
