well... yeah.. I mean the 360 isn't that great of a name.... and playstation? It's an accepted name, but it's not that great at all.

At least they're straight to the point....the playstation is exactly as it's name implies..same with the xbox 360...but the Wii? For crying out loud...it's just sad.

@Sartori....Maybe the Playstation doesn't wanna change cause of the risk of ending up with a name like the Wii. I stand by them on this smart decision.

Worst logic I've heard in a long time. If they were to avoid a situation like "the Wii" then simply put - just don't name it Wii. Name it something hip and trendy that'll sell on MTV to guys with guns. That'd be sweet. The Gunnerblood 720. It can have Tony Hawk with a machine gun flying off of a half pipe with a skate/snowboard hybrid while Matt Hoffman gets decapitated in the background by the slick ninja stars being thrown out of Tony's exhaust pipe on the board he's riding.

Now back to your Wii...or my Wii....or the Wii or whatever you wanna call it....I wonder how it's gonna be like when a kid's slashing through the air with his magic wand or the Wii controller and the parents see him just simply playing with his Wii...will someone wake me up yet?

I do understand there are people that will stand by Nintendo no matter how many mental patients they let helm their corporation....but if you try to deny that the Wii in one of the...if not THE worst name for a system yet....you're fooling yourself.
 
Honestly, like I said, I'm not that thrilled with it. Revolution is leaps and bounds better - it's one of the best names I've heard yet when given the context.

However, I'm going to allow them a minute to market and see what they have in store for this name before I give them all of my hell. When I first heard of it I was very displeased, but after calming down and realizing I was a rash idiot, I decided I should wait it out a minute or two. No need to be hasty. I'd like to play the Rev at E3 before I make any decisions. If the games are awesome, I really don't care. But with a name like this, sans excellent marketing that is unprecedented, they better have some killer apps.
 
I agree that the Revolution was massively better than the Wii. About the marketing idea...did you see the logo? The marketing pitch so far is "Wii will change everything"....I think that's just stupid.

See, that's the thing. I like the use of the name so far, like that ad. I just don't like the name. So I'm giving it a 50/50 change for fairness. They'll either show me - or they won't.

By all means, I want a Rev...or...a Wii now....but they gotta sell it to me.
 
What do I think of the name change? IT STINKS! ABSOLUTELY STINKS! Let me say however that it will not deter me from getting it. I will still be a Wii owner down the line, but I would have preferred that they would have stuck to Revolution. Here's a few interesting articles I stumbled upon.

Regardless of what people say about the cube.. it has tons of good  games for it.

Honestly, I think the revolution will be cool.  I as well (and fully 100% agree with neph on this) will call it the revolution :lol
I can't ask people to play with my Wii ... with a straight face :lol  there is just no way.  Hey *insert buddies name*, want to head over to my house to try my new Wii. I'm sorry.. :lol ... that's just wrong.

Geez. It's called an opinion. I personally like it alot more than Playstation. I've heard that name so much it's just not interesting anymore.

Same with the Xbox.

You're not going to change that fact I like the name better than Playstation and Xbox. Thanks.
