Despite Neph acting so darn smug, I have to agree with him again.

All he said was that the GC doesn't have a ton of good games on it. He never said anything (at least in this thread) about anyone having to like PS2 games.

Finally. Someone actually explaining what is going on.

I understand people don't like the Cube. It does not have that great of a game selection as the other two consoles. That does not mean it's a poor product to everyone. I also understand that there is fanboyism, but it happens on both sides.

Neph if you like PS2 and not the Cube, then it should be ok for someone to like the Cube and not like the PS2. It's all about personal preference. I don't see why people get so uptight about this. It's just videogames. They are meant to be fun and not to be taken so seriously.

Once again, Neph hasn't said anything about people having to like the PS2. If I recall correctly, it was BV who first mentioned the PS2 in this whole discussion. Neph never said that it wasn't ok for someone to like the Cube and not the PS2.

He's right (as far as I can see), you guys are putting words into his mouth.

Im going by most of the comments he has made in other topics as well. People feel that they got burned by Sony with their systems breaking down just as much as people feel they got burned with the game selection with the GameCube. One way or another someone is going to get burned simply because not everyone is going to get a perfect running system or have the perfect library of games that fit them completely.

My point was more that just because some people haven't experienced systems breaking down does not mean it doesn't happen, or that just because some of us like GC games it does not mean everyone does. All of us are defending what we feel is the superior product, but there's no need to take it so seriously. I wasn't trying to put words into his mouth. I don't know why this is such a heated discussion in the first place anyways.
 
I don't know anyone who has had any real problems with a console without a specific cause (an accident)

My Xbox used to give me disc drive errors but I threatened to sell it and it straightened up :)

My PS2 stopped reading blue disc games and DVD's all together without any help. I treat all my systems fairly well.

I also threatened to sell my Xbox. It said "Screw you" and just completely stopped working. I sold it. :lol
 
Well as you know that happened to my PS2 but all it took was a good professional internal cleaning and she's good to go. :D

I worked with a buddy who had a PS1 that decided to act up. He brough it to work one day and blasted it with compressed air. It worked like a charm.

Sounds like you need a lens replacement as I feared I did. To tell you the truth I should probably get the lens replaced anyway. I had to switch back to my newer PS2 a couple of weeks back because my Tomb Raider kept freezing up. Obviously the lens still works but not so well or at least not well for certain games.

Neph, why must you be so angry all the time?? Game consoles will never decide one's fate. Wars will not be fought on whether Halo was good or not. So then why must you draw a battleline with people because they have a different opinion than yours??

But I will say that everyone here is entitled to an opinion. And I believe that personal attacks shouldn't be used when someone expresses an opinion. And if you feel the need to trash talk someone who holds a different opinion, then I suggest finding another forum to join. Because I for one will do what I can to uphold the integrity of both myself and this site.

Everything we discuss here is only relevant to a point. If you have no interest in the discussion at hand then do not participate in it.
 
as far as I can tell both sides are being antagonistic

the only difference is that Neph is being a bit more abrasive

and I have to agree with Neph is not saying the PS2 is better, but I guess he's just trying to say he wasn't happy with his gamecube experience so he's going to be cautious about buying Nintendo new system (I'm not saying Neph said that I'm just making an educated guess based on what I've read of this thread)

On my personal gamecube experience, earlier on I myself did get burned (due to a lack of information)
and to this day only found a few unique and enjoyable games on the gamecube, RE 4 for example, but even that game is also for the PS2 now

I think we are all a bit tense due to the fact that one of are next generation systems is just as suggestive as the banana
