October 25, 2004 - Nintendo of America today announced that on November 14 it would release a new GameCube bundled with a copy of Mario Kart: Double Dash!! for only $99.99, the standard price of the console.

Mario Kart: Double Dash!!, the sequel to the hit racer Mario Kart 64, has sold more than 1.6 million copies in the US since it debuted for GameCube about a year ago. The title features a wide assortment of single and multiplayer-based races whereby classic Nintendo mascots zoom across the tracks on specially outfitted karts and try to take opponents down with carefully flung power-ups.

With retailers expecting videogames to set the shopping season ablaze, Nintendo feels that the arrival of the bundle comes at a "particularly important time for shoppers and retailers alike."

I think a bundle like this will help the GC a lot this holiday, even more so than the Metroid Prime bundle. Especially with the shortages of the other systems. Someone looking for a Christmas gift might find the GC more enticing at the $99 price point. :)

you know....

what you said MK.... for some reason, I instantly thought Mortal Kombat :lol

I was like.... SAY WHAT  ::D

Anyway.... They should have made an Eternal Darkness bundle :)

Or some other bundles.  MKDD..... I think they are going the wrong way with this one for some reason

Nintendo also needs to make more games use the Broad Band Adaptor.

†B†V† :hat

I think they should have tried a Pikmin/Mario Kart bundle and introduced Pikmin to more people that way. Or even a Tales of Symphonia or Baten Kaitos bundle to get more rpg fans on board.

But I did find out some more info, thanks to early holiday adds at Wal-Mart.

The Mario Kart: Double Dash bundle is going to be with the Platinum Gamecube, and it comes with TWO controllers.

I remember it coming out, it came out when they released MK:DD i think it was nearer x-mas end of the year.

The bundle NK:DD came with a limited edition Collectors Edition of Zelda which included the legend of zelda, zelda II the adventures of link, zelda ocarina of time, zelda Majora's mask and a playable demo of wind waker. I think you could only get the collectors disk if you brought the bundle well at first anyway.

I remember my mum buying the bundle last x-mas so i could have the game with the zelda disk, then sold the cube hehe
