I think a bundle like this will help the GC a lot this holiday, even more so than the Metroid Prime bundle. Especially with the shortages of the other systems. Someone looking for a Christmas gift might find the GC more enticing at the $99 price point.
October 25, 2004 - Nintendo of America today announced that on November 14 it would release a new GameCube bundled with a copy of Mario Kart: Double Dash!! for only $99.99, the standard price of the console.
Mario Kart: Double Dash!!, the sequel to the hit racer Mario Kart 64, has sold more than 1.6 million copies in the US since it debuted for GameCube about a year ago. The title features a wide assortment of single and multiplayer-based races whereby classic Nintendo mascots zoom across the tracks on specially outfitted karts and try to take opponents down with carefully flung power-ups.
With retailers expecting videogames to set the shopping season ablaze, Nintendo feels that the arrival of the bundle comes at a "particularly important time for shoppers and retailers alike."
