Official Nintendo DSi thread

It came out friday over here and i picked mine up from work yesterday. I have one of the original grey chucky ones and wow the dsi is so thin compared and the screens espically the bottom which is so much bigger.

The camera feature is so cool and the fact that you can play around with them, i love the spyrograph type one.

The cameras are great! Really good quality to them was surprising. Sadly, I can't have a connection. It your internet has a password or anything like that, it can only be WEP. And I have WPA. @_@ Sucks.

you can change that, ask your parents about it...

(or at least i believe you can because i remember i had a password problem as well)

Really? Hylian was telling me that the picture quality was awful...but I didn't expect much. The camera's just a little add-on anyways.

I got it done Zi! I am typing this on my DSi as we speak. Internet channel is free and works really good...

Little late to the party on this. I did pick up my DSi at midnight on launch night, and I must say it's awesome. Here's a few pictures of it, the game in there is Pokemon Platinum. The pictures were taken with a cell phone, as I don't have a real digital camera. I'll also try to get a picture taken with my DSi up here sometime, if I can just figure out why it's denying my SD card.

I should also mention that the screens feel a lot bigger, and pictures on the Internet really don't do them justice. When you see them in person, they will feel like they're much bigger. There are definitely some games I need to play again on my DSi, such as Chrono Trigger (makes text bigger) and Resident Evil, simply because part of the problem before was that it wasn't as scary on a small screen.

Mega told me you are a fan of the world ends with you... does it feel better to play that game on DSi :lol?

I gave it a try on the DSi, I actually thought it did look a bit better. The bigger screens do help a bit, but it wasn't bad-looking on DS Lite to begin with. The screens make the text a bit bigger, if you didn't like the size of it on the DS Lite or Phat.

well i was ok with the graphics (i have the phat one) but it is slightly uncomfortable to play TWEWY on the phat sometimes due to its size (compared to when i tried the game on DSlite that is)

I actually have never tried to play TWEWY on the Phat. It's worth the upgrade though, especially if you don't care all that much about having a GBA slot. If you do care about the GBA slot though, get the Lite. Either way, TWEWY does feel much better. One thing I did notice was the buttons on the DSi are much better. On the Lite, the buttons and D-Pad felt kind of squishy, and sometimes hard to tell a difference between "pressed" and "not pressed." The shoulder buttons on the DS Lite also felt somewhat awkward. The Lite's buttons weren't bad, but they weren't perfect. The DSi's buttons have everything you liked about the Phat's and Lite's buttons. Especially the shoulder buttons, which is helpful if you use the "Sub" function in TWEWY.

i got a GBA SP (which i use to play GB games anyway) so that is not an issue for me...

i am left handed so i use the buttons instead of the D-pad, and the buttons in the phat do feel a bit different than the ones in the lite.. and i guess it could be the same for DSi.

i will definetly get a DSi, besides with gamestop's sale if i trade in my DS phat i can get DSi for the price of a DSlite so is a win/win deal.

That's pretty good, just one thing to keep in mind though. Do you play Pokemon games? If you do, remember that you have to have the GBA slot on the DS to transfer Pokemon from the GBA to DS games. There are also a few other games out there that have features like that. That's something you might want to consider before getting rid of your Phat.

Alright, this was taken with my DSi, to get it to work, I had to use a different SD card. Ironically it was the one that was in my Wii that I had to use. I don't know why it won't accept the other one. As you can see, the camera is about that of a cell phone. It looks better than my cell phone though.

i do not have games that used such features (i don't play pokemon anymore and in fact i am going to trade in pokemon ruby today xD.....) and as far as games that use the GBA slot, i got none..... i have considered this and many have told me about it but i just don't use that feature.

Then it sounds like DSi is the way to go for you. The DSiWare stuff is pretty cool, and I'm really hoping those GB virtual console rumors happen.

yeah, i also liked the pricing of the launch DSi ware, no matter what games you buy you will always have the opportunity of buying 2 with the 1000 points that come with the console. (plus i really like warioware games).
