Official Super Smash Bros. Brawl Topic

Re: Official SSBB Topic

And it's absence isn't a terrible loss. I didn't bring Halo into this topic, Spartan, I used it as an example. If voice chat is the selling point of a game, I feel sorry for it.

its not the selling point, it would only improve the game

you're right but i mean you are not gonna buy a good game like this one just because something so trivial like voice chat?

improve the game heck yeah (before/after battles discussions) but on-line is not gonna be sooo terrible without it

Re: Official SSBB Topic

Well it's a good thing that Nintendo doesn't need to improve much upon themselves, unlike Microsoft.

Re: Official SSBB Topic

i have to disagree with you jack, nintendo has done some major improvements since the creation of the wii and DS.

and hines i think you're right, in some ways (i wanna download demos in my wii too XD)

a company must always improve and i think every single videogame company has been improving a lot in this generation, so please let's not start a console war in this topic.

nintendo says that they have more hidden things about super smash on-line, let's wait and see

Re: Official SSBB Topic

Voice chat wouldn't be the main selling point, but it would improve the game and it could easily be done. It isn't game breaking, but it would be a nice feature.

Re: Official SSBB Topic

@Hines: Right, because Wii was priced at $600 and had internal meltdowns.

@Spartan: So, we've moved from total failure without voice, to "It would have been nice". And yes, it would have, but not result in failure.

Re: Official SSBB Topic

Jack, you're just taking cheap shots at Microsoft and Halo 3. Nobody brought that up but you. Also, using them as examples is the same as bringing them up.

Yes, voice chat would help SSBB, but maybe the Wii's just for the people who like to play on a recreational scale rather than an underground scale.

There. Stop complaining how it isn't going to be online. Stop saying you're the best. We'll see who the best is going to be. The "no online" complaint is no longer valid.

~Jack

We'll see who the best is gonna be? Oh geeze. Well, all you own is a Wii so I guess that makes sense for you. :lol

I'm pretty excited for this game.

Re: Official SSBB Topic

Has voice chat been ruled out? Who's to say Nintendo won't announce a headset for the Wii between now and November, and they won't put voice chat in SSBB?

Re: Official SSBB Topic

An EGA tourney would be pretty sweet but hard to get everyone togther at the same time...

Re: Official SSBB Topic

Highly unlikely. Nintendo's been dead set about mapping certain things you can say to the D-pad so nobody swears or is rude.

Wow, that's completely stupid. They put "Game experience may change during online play..." on the box for a reason. ::)

Re: Official SSBB Topic

Yeah, it is stupid to not have voice chat. Unless Nintendo is pretending they dont have it so they can surprise everyone with it...

Re: Official SSBB Topic

Is it stupid to not have it? No, at least not in my eyes. Would I like to have it? Yes I would. But the thing is Nintendo didn't really think about implementing voice chat in any of their games in the first place. So to just implement it would actually be more difficult then we think. First of all there are regulations that you have to deal with (Assuming the headset would be wireless which would be the ideal way to go.)

Yes the Wii has bluetooth but you still have to keep from interfering with other bluetooth devices. Not to mention that bluetooth in general is a lot less reliable than radio waves, Nintendo would have to put some time into it to make sure it's right. USB headsets could work but they would be less than ideal and like someone else said in another thread it would defeat the point of wireless.

Re: Official SSBB Topic

Voice chat is annoying, especially in a fighting game where you want full concentration. I'm all for no voice chat and it doesn't weigh the game down at all...

Offical box art cover for the North American release of SUPER SMASH BROS. BRAWL

OfficalBoxArt.jpg

Thanks to ign.com for revealing this one.

Also confirmed again, Online 4 player mode (No friends codes are needed either if you wish) However if you are fighting against a friend, the battle tally will be recorded. If it's a stranger, then it won't know how many wins or losses you've had.

Re: Official SSBB Topic

I like that cover. It's pretty cool looking.

I'm also happy that win/lose records won't be recorded against strangers. That will make it so that people are less likely to drop if they are losing (hopefully).
