I think people seem to be hesitant to pick up the 3DS. locally there are plenty of them around, not flying off the shelf like I suspected them to. I half way expected them to be totally gone at this point. I may be able to save up some money and purchase one if I want to. This might be one of those things in which word of mouth or a demo will finally sell the system.
Or the Christmas Holiday might encourage a shortage. At least in my local area. It might be totally different in other areas.
Well Nintendo didn't really have advertisements out there to let everyone know it was coming out. The week of the 3DS coming out I was like: "Oh damn, the 3DS is coming out in 3 days wth?"
I think it also has to do with the fact that there aren't a whole lot of games at launch. I'm sure once the library fills out, a lot of them will sell.
I was well aware that it was coming out. It was all over the news and posted everywhere. The morning shows on TV as well as the nightly news had something on it. I thought it was well publicized. Maybe your not watching a lot of TV because the advertisements have been there. Many places had the countdown until that magical Sunday. Many people were waiting at midnight in stores on a Saturday to be the first in line.
The local Game Stop said they only got eight and wouldn't get any more until the Fall.
I think the price tag is a bit heavy for people. That and the 3D part of it. Even with the offer of the trade in of your old DS lite, DSi XL, or DSi, there are still plenty on the shelf here locally. I know I wouldn't trade in my DSi XL.
I don't know, i sure do see a lot of people online when i play it. But the only people i personally know play it are my brother and uncle, so i guess i am technically the only one who plays it. XD (if that made any sense.)
To help raise money for Japan, IPlayWinner and LevelUpSeries held Fight For Relief, 2 tournaments, one held in NorCal and the other held in SoCal on 4/3/2011. In the span of 24 hours they helped raise Over $30,000. Feels good to be a part of it.
We also have a lot of 3DS systems here where I live. I just think it's a combination of the price and lack of games that make people hesitant to pick one up right now. At least three of my roommates all want one; one is waiting for Zelda, though; one is waiting until she has money; and one is waiting for the Phoenix Wright/Professor Layton crossover.
