Spore coming to Wii

http://www.joystiq.com/2008/02/12/will-wright-talks-spore-on-wii-delays-procedural-music/

We know that after years of delays, whatever part of your heart cares about Spore has calcified and hardened. But now that it's actually, really, no kidding coming out on Sept. 7, it's probably OK to start getting pumped again, and Newsweek's N'Gai Croal is there for you to help turn your heartlight back on.

In the first part of a massive interview, Will Wright lays it all on the table and reminds you how great the game is going to be (spoiler alert: very) and why it took so long to get here. Then Wright delves into the Wii version of the game, which he says will take advantage of the Wiimote to give more control over creatures. Also in that second part, an incredibly rad explanation about how you'll be able to procedurally generate a theme song for the city in your game. ... What's the feeling stirring in our hearts? Could it be ... anticipation? Do we dare to love again? Yes. We dare.

I mean from a multiplayer standpoint. Wii can't compare to the PC version's graphics, but it will have better controls. Multiplayer is where it counts in Spore, though.

Are you kidding? The PC has superior controls over the Wii hands down, and when something like this is made u can guarantee that the controls in the PC version will completely destroy the controls on the Wii. And Nintendo can't even touch the PC multiplayer community. Don't even try to kid yourself.

I don't know Hines, it has yet to be seen how the controls will be. They tend to be hit or miss when games are ports.

Either way, this is great news for Wii owners. This is exactly what it needs to continue to be successful.

Controls don't really matter to me. I'll get the Wii version because my PC won't handle Spore and I know that. I'm excited.

I will eat my foot off.

No way in hell will it have better controls, and I wouldn't count on the multiplayer being better on the Wii, considering Nintendo's multiplayer reputation.

Well, I understand the debate between analog sticks and mouses, but I think the Wii Remote has already proven itself.

*Looks at Metroid Prime 3*

XD

Mouse is still more accurate than the Wiimote. Maybe the only thing more accurate than the mouse would be the stylist on the DS.

Although the controls will be better on the PC, I still don't care. It's irrelevant to me purchasing this game for the Wii.

You just point at the screen.

It sure makes shooting a lot easier and more accessible in Metroid and Medal of Honor.

So, the Mouse and Keyboard is faster, more accurate, and more stable than the Wiimote. And those are 2 games out of how many on the Wii.

@Strubes: Controls will effect you greatly on this game.

The Wii will have good controls. Not better than the PC. But, I'm not spending over $1000 on a computer to play some game. It's still not detrimental to me purchasing this game. I liked Battle For Middle Earth 2 on the 360 control-wise. So, I think with the Wii having better controls in that area than the 360, I'll like Spore on the Wii. Controls don't bother me at all.

Even if it's only two games, that's two more than any other console has gotten in trying to top PC controls.

XDXDXDXD

Here's a list: Halo series, Call of Duty series, Command and Conquer 3, Orange Box, UT3 (oh wait that USED PC controls), Counter Strike, Soilder of Fortune, Turok, Conflict, LotR: Battle for Middle Earth 2, Dark Messiah, Elder Scrolls, and countless others have tried. And only one has come close and that was UT3 for the fact that it USED PC controls.

Here's something I think you don't get. You think those developers actually tried to top PC controls, when they didn't. They tried to make the controls awesome for the platform the game was on. And let me tell you, I played Oblivion and Bioshock on my friend's PC the other night, and after that I know that I would much rather play those games on an xbox 360 any day.

XD, do you listen to yourself when you talk? Did I mention Bioshock? And tell me did Metroid or Medal of Honor try to top PC controls?

The answer to all these questions are well in fact no.

And how bout that most of the games that I mentioned the devs. did try to top PC controls.

Oh and we all know you HATE the PC so why even bother stating that you have played games on it. When in fact we all know that you went into the game already thinking it will suck.

I don't hate PC, you're just trying to cause trouble. I am arguing logically, when every post you make in this thread implies that you are laughing at me and trying to make me look bad.

Medal of Honor Heroes 2 for Wii tried to top PC controls, as did Metroid Prime 3: Corruption for Wii. In my eyes, Metroid dang well succeeded, and I have never played MoH.

Oh so thinking PC is garbage and should get no respect doesn't equal hate? No, saying the Wii having better controls than PC is not logic.

I would like to see where they said this was true. Oh wait u listen to IGN, that might be the problem that lies here.

Now if you excuse me I will be off. I'm wasting CoDay arguing with someone that spews words everywhere and doesn't have the proof to back them up.
