Star Wars: The Old Republic

Anyone going to get this? It looks pretty good. If there were EVER an MMO that I was going to get, it would probably be this one. But I'm holding out to see how it is and if other friends are going to get it.

I think it comes out today (the 20th) actually.

Yes, it is out today.

I don't think I'm going to get it. I don't have to tell anyone here how much I love Kotor, but I don't want to invest either the time or monthly fee it takes to play an MMO. Sorry BioWare, not even you can drag me in to the MMO scene.

I'm tempted... are you going to get it?

I don't see this game offered on Steam... I wonder when (or if) it will be
Nevermind... I just saw it was published by EA... so it won't be on Steam :(

I've never been a huge fan of MMOs (I like the smaller ones like PSO and Diablo II). I've tried to get into them; I played City of Heroes but didn't even go through the 30 day trial. I tried WoW too (I am a huge Warcraft 3 fan), but I was just dying too much trying to solo the game and it wasn't fun for me.

Then I saw The Old Republic was going to be an MMO, and I was definitely disappointed (I enjoyed the prequels immensely). I did however buy the game and am loving it so far. It's a good mix between KotoR and WoW (I think). The quests seem on par with the other games, but the plot moves slower what with the game designers wanting you to trudge through so many of these non plot related quests to get ahead.

I will probably subscribe for at least another month or two after my trial runs out, as the gameplay is incredibly addicting. I've been soloing a lot, but there are many quests (called heroics) where it is nigh impossible to get anywhere without other decent players to help you through. I know I'll need to embrace the whole multiplayer aspect of this game if I really want to enjoy it to its fullest though, I just don't really like having to wait around on other people... (though you can quest as you wait).

I'll at least play it until Diablo III comes out, and then bye bye monthly fee!

Oh, and if anyone has the game, my SN is Fluffers on the server Thendys Noori and I'm with the sith (I was light side in the 1st two games, I need a change).

Johngamer... dangit... this makes me want to buy the game. I've watched a few more trailers... it looks fun...

I'm really trying hard not to buy stuff now :lol But I may cave to this game...

Thanks for the review johngamer! Although now I am more tempted to get it and try it as well. Although, how are the system requirements? Still not sure if I could run it.

I picked it up as well. I'm playing a Jedi Knight right now and loving it.

I played World of Warcraft since the beginning and this is a really nice change. I enjoy how in depth the story is and the cinematic for each quest is one of a kind.

The game-play's a lot of fun, I enjoy grouping up for the various heroic quests and it's well worth the monthly fee. I've played most of the major MMO's and this is close to my favorite. World of Warcraft (Vanilla edition, back in the day) still holds a special place in my gaming history though. It's gotten boring and redundant for me now, but the beginning was great.

I'd recommend anyone who enjoys MMOs to pick SWTOR up.
