I've never been a huge fan of MMOs (I like the smaller ones like PSO and Diablo II). I've tried to get into them; I played City of Heroes but didn't even go through the 30 day trial. I tried WoW too (I am a huge Warcraft 3 fan), but I was just dying too much trying to solo the game and it wasn't fun for me.
Then I saw The Old Republic was going to be an MMO, and I was definitely disappointed (I enjoyed the prequels immensely). I did however buy the game and am loving it so far. It's a good mix between KotoR and WoW (I think). The quests seem on par with the other games, but the plot moves slower what with the game designers wanting you to trudge through so many of these non plot related quests to get ahead.
I will probably subscribe for at least another month or two after my trial runs out, as the gameplay is incredibly addicting. I've been soloing a lot, but there are many quests (called heroics) where it is nigh impossible to get anywhere without other decent players to help you through. I know I'll need to embrace the whole multiplayer aspect of this game if I really want to enjoy it to its fullest though, I just don't really like having to wait around on other people... (though you can quest as you wait).
I'll at least play it until Diablo III comes out, and then bye bye monthly fee!
Oh, and if anyone has the game, my SN is Fluffers on the server Thendys Noori and I'm with the sith (I was light side in the 1st two games, I need a change).
