XD! @ Mega

The only Tales game to have guns is Tales of Innocence and Tales of the Abyss, and as far as I know, neither one featured any kind of cat girls. :lol

@ fhq, did you get your issue of Nintendo Power with this on the cover?

I have no NP subscription anymore, my parents wouldn't pay it and I sure wasn't, so I use the interwebz.

Bandai Namco announced the Tales RPG Tales of Symphonia: Dawn of the New World will be coming to Wii in US this year.

Thanks to the magic-box.com

Ok got some more juicy info and pics, courtesy of the official Tales forum and its members.

By the way, all the original characters will be playable, with the exception of Kratos, who’ll be a narrator.

Sheena = playable = Must have game of 2008 for me.

Here's the entirety of the Nintendo Power article.

If I wasn't already excited for this game, I would be now from the article. :woot

:drool

Oh lord, I just found the one game I must have in 2008!

I'm kinda bummed that I can't play as Kratos. He was awesome, but being able to play as everyone else more than makes up for it. :)

I am excited about this game, maybe the wii will be more accessible in stores when this game comes out, if not I'll just had to step up my efforts in getting one

IGN has some more info on this game.

Highlights:

Something has gone wrong with the unification of the worlds. There should be balance. Peace. But the climates are out of tune -- deserts have frozen over, massive lakes dried up -- and nobody is certain why. To make matters worse, the people of the Sylvarant and Tethe'alla are at odds with one another and war looms. You play as the 16-year-old blonde boy Emil Castagnier, described by Namco as indecisive, whose parents were recently killed. One day Emil hears a calling and follows it into the mountains, where he meets Marta Lualdi, a 15-year-old tomboy whose mother was also killed in the unification of the two worlds. In a surprise twist, the characters learn that it was Lloyd Irving who was indirectly responsible for the deaths of their loved ones. "Emil believes that his parents were killed by Lloyd Irving. It's a significant aspect of the story that will be addressed as players make their way through the game," explains localization manager Minako Takahashi." Together, they embark upon a quest to discover the truth behind the hearsay and also to bring balance back to the land.

the story looks interesting XD, it looks like a combination of fire emblem with tales of symphonia

Oh, I'm not sure how I missed it earlier, but the Nintendo Power article has a lot of interesting info on Dawn of a New World being aimed at the hardcore crowd.

NP = Nintendo Power
TK = R&D Producer Terukai Konishi
TG = Producer Tsutomu Gouda

NP: Casual games have a reputation for selling very well on the Wii, particularly in Japan, but Tales is perceived as a very hardcore series. Are you making any concessions for the Wii's more casual audience?
TK: This is something we were very concerned about during the development process. We wanted to bring the Tales experience to the Wii, but at the same time we didn't want to compromise the quality of the Tales series or diminish the full RPG experience. So we decided to satisfy Tales fans and hardcore RPG fans first and foremost. But we do understand that the Wii is very popular with casual gamers, and that is part of the reason we implemented the monster system. We felt that would bring in casual gamers, because it's more of a "fun" game system.
TG: It's important to note that the Wii's popularity with casual gamers didn't become apparent, even in Japan, until around autumn of last year. This project actually started around the summer of 2006, and at that time no one else had announced an RPG for the Wii, so we wanted to deliver a full Tales RPG experience on the platform. So that's why we were aiming for the "hardcore" gamer market from the beginning. That, and Nintendo themselves specifically asked us to gear the game for a hardcore audience.

this is the proof that nintendo still thinks about us hardcore gamers XD. oh yeah

On page four there's a screenshot of the guy with the purple hair and he looks scary!

Also, did you notice August 24, 2008 (US) as the release date? That would be totally sweet if true.

IGN has some new stuff up.

http://wii.ign.com/articles/866/866844p1.html

The game is controlled with the Remote and Nunchuk. The analog stick handles your movement. The A button attacks and B performs a special attack. A and B can be used in conjunction for even more powerful attacks, such as the aerial maneuvers Emil excels at. The C button switches which character you have control of. Instead of traversing an overworld, players point to locations on the map with the Remote and are whisked away.
