Amazon had it listed for awhile, they sent an email August 22, 2009 announcing the official release date (updating their site that day)

Being in retail myself for over 10 years. That date is estimated and is subject to change, especially when it's called that early.

How was it too early, didnt they have a massive Capcom event in August in which they said when it would come? Maybe the news was overlooked but January 26th has been known for awhile.

There wasn't any event that Capcom held, except to reveal Lost Planet 2 during that time frame.

Capcom just released the darn date..... i've been up to date with what's been up to with TVC so i know for sure no such thing as a release date was ever announced until this point...

MegaDrive20XX, how come a large portion of news threads that we both post in, always come to discussions like this?

Zidart, I am quite sure that it was known back then, someone probably failed to post the news story then on the forums or you skipped over a blog or something. Surely Amazon wouldnt just randomly pick a date on the calendar and guess that "Winter 09 Release" meant Jan 26, 2010...

Starrynite, because when I ask you something related to the discussion, I find your answers to be far-fetched at times.

Amazon.com is just a business that has to estimate a time frame and almost acts like wikipedia.com, where anyone can edit it. Nothing is concrete. Especially when Capcom JUST announced this to the public a few hours ago.

Since Amazon is my primary shopping outlet, I trust their release dates the most. There is just no explanation for how they knew it was January 26, 2010 unless Capcom told them/announced it in August.
