I'm sold... I like it a lot. They stated they have 120 games AT LEAST lined up for it already!

post up your comments here :D

Isn't it freaking cool?? I'm so excited! I'm going to pay off my pre-order sometime in late August or September so that when it comes out I can just pick it up and start playing!

My only complaint is that I hope there are other colors than silver. I'd love to see it in black or cobalt! :D

I want the silver color :lol

If there are other colors.. thats great... but that silver looks AWESOME!!

cobalt... that would be sweet if it had a metallic tint to it :D

Yeah, like the cobalt sp, where it's metallic. I like that color.

It's cool if it ends up only being available in silver though. I'm getting it either way. :)

Well no one here besides me was really excited with it to begin with, if I recall correctly. A redesign isn't going to make that much of a difference when the thing people are concerned about is the price and the games.

I got to play it, so I know it's going to be awesome, but not everyone else was as lucky. ;)

worried about the price? I think Nintendo will do well keeping it affordable.

They always have.

Granted cart games got expensive.... but overall Nintendo kept things down pretty well (in the last few years).

I think it will be affordable. The problem is that the current projected release date (November 29/30 depending on which site you're looking at) is right in the middle of the big holiday season. I'm hoping that will be more of an advantage than a disadvantage, though. It would make a good Christmas present. And since it will play GBA games you can probably get away with just giving someone the hardware as a present. They can always get actual DS games later on.

Unless they have some great games that really overshadow the GBA games that I have now, I don't know that I'd be upgrading from my SP.

Have they just given the ugly model a makeover? Or are they pulling a "GBA SP" again?
ugly model make-over :)

what do you mean pulling a GBA SP again?
this is the DS ... and a nice version at that.

The DS also has backward compatibility to play all those older games as well.

I mean bringing out a newer model and raising the price, surely you knew that.

Although the recharge feature is very helpful so i'm not bitter.

well.... with wireless, touch screen, and many other features... I hate to say it, but there will be a price increase.

So what would that mean for people that pre-ordered at the original price?

no..... I see what you are saying now.

Who knows if there will be an increase... OR a decrease. You know.. the retailers pre-ordering the DS / PSP right now... along with the games... they are not even sure of the prices OR what the actual release dates are. They are the ones making a guess. NOA hasn't even set a price..... as far as I have seen.... only guestimates. I have seen $30-40 for game prices... and $125-175 for the system price.

I really like this new design, but I don't want just silver. My silver SP is turning grey... I guess from leaving it in my pocket too much :lol

Well it's easier with non-metallic for me. Less noticeable scratches. I no longer get people saying "Woah! Cool system!" I now get "What happened to your system?". It's all scratched up :lol

I don't think that will happen. It looks like they've got it as compact as they can get it with two screens and it already has most of the other stuff built in already. Stereo speakers, headphone jack, stylus holder, proper backlighting, etc.

Also, in about a year they'll probably be releasing the next gen Game Boy and will focus on that instead of the DS.

okay I like and would buy this over the PSP anyway just because of Nintendo's experence in the handheld market but the unit looks rather LARGE. maybe a DS Pocket version will come out few months after DS is released.

Well, we all know that a better version of the DS that incorperates features that should have been there in the first place will come out with a huge price tag as soon as Nintendo figures they've sold almost all of the originals they are going to sell.
