The Offical E3 2008 Thread (July 14th to July 16th)

I'm watching the Nintendo E3 conference on G4.com right now for the third time. I haven't heard it yet. Please give me a time I should watch out for.

Reggie shows up and says it, and shockingly, on the large screen behind him, Mario and Link pop up as he says it.

Teams working on games. I gotcha now. I thought you were talking about him actually talking about the games. But, no matter how incredibly disappointing that E3 was fhq, I already knew your stance on E3 before and after it ended. I mean, you HAVE to be a die-hard fan (not fanboy, but fan), to say the conference wasn't just bad.

I'm not saying it wasn't bad, I'm saying you could see it coming a mile away. There's far more important events that Nintendo attends and prefers to show off at.

So yea, new E3 coverage coming in 15 minutes on G4. I believe they are demoing Little Big Planet tonight. Konami's Press Conference started minutes ago so I have to catch that soon as well.

Which gives a question I've been wondering. How much ratings is G4 getting during this that they don't deserve?

Straight from Konami about Castlevania Judgement:

"You might think it's a Fighter but, it's a 3D Versus Action Title"

No, it's a fighter. It doesn't look bad but, it just doesn't seem right for Castlevania. And the new Castlevania game for DS looked real sweet!

Both will be available Fall 2008.

Castlevania Judgement's Story:
"As you know Castlevania's storyline goes across thousands of years. And there is someone who is trying to destroy this timeline and thus various characters of the Castlevania Storylines are thrown into a single timeline to fight."

Sounds amazing >_>

Crap...

And fighters are known for amazing stories, huh?

What?! North America is a very important place for video games. If this was Europe then you might have a point. Regardless of whether they're Japanese or not, they should know better that NA is a huge market for them. I don't believe Nintendo is that naive, but got caught off guard. If what you are saying is the case with Nintendo then they don't deserve any more of our money. I will not buy a Wii or any other Nintendo product.

Well, do you realize that their 'main' game(Animal Crossing) will be released in America first? It's quite possible they'll show off games in their country of initial release. They know not to ignore the American market, which they didn't. They feel the American market is mostly casual, and guess what they showed?

If that's how they feel then it's only going to hurt them in the long run. Like I said before, casual gamers don't follow events like E3. That's what commercials on TV are for. E3 or any other huge press event is a place where you need to show off your biggest titles. So Nintendo fails even more.

Actually, my paper has done some coverage on E3 announcements, like Wii MotionPlus and the Microsoft/Netflix partnership. So it does get to casuals, just not in a very direct way.

That's actually pretty cool. Wish my paper did that. In my time internet wasn't as huge.

Yeah, E3 is a media only event now, so what does the media do? They get the word out through several other means. You don't have to watch E3 to know a good number of things shown.

I found a pretty good point in a user-blog I was checking out earlier. Nintendo tried to appease the casual crowd at E3 when, in fact, the casual players weren't keeping an eye on E3.

that's why =/

But that's also not what they're looking forward to. Most casual gamers don't even know what E3 is, so they wouldn't really be reading about it in a magazine or paper.

>_> They can't just read the paper and get caught by the title, oh no, according to Strubes, you have to look for an article to find it.

Yes, you should publish that or something. Get my name out there.
