The Offical LittleBigPlanet Thread (Update 8/14/10)

Re: The LittleBigPlanet Thread

I got mine today too, I didnt get the usual call from Ashley at Gamestop though but I went ahead and called them, I had to like remind them that I get the special code that as of yet isnt redeemable.

I cant wait for the online to be picked up and servers available, playing with more than two people without lag is fun.

Re: The LittleBigPlanet Thread

Thank god I'm not the only person who's code didn't work. I have 3 of them so I tried them all. :lol

Re: The LittleBigPlanet Thread

I'm a little late on this one, but it's censorship, and I can't miss spouting some libertarian anti-censorship rhetoric, now can I? :lol

Good example Starrynite and I wish Christians had more power to do that these days. If a single Muslim man can debate over one thing, cause an uproar, cease production on the ENTIRE WORLD, then why can't a single Christian man?
Why would you want anyone to be able to do that? I don't understand why it is such a positive thing that we are so heavily influenced by political correctness that the artist is willing to censor their own work in the name of it. I understand why you don't like the double-standard (and there is one. Go watch the Cartoon Wars episode of South Park. Comedy Central censored the image of Mohammad just kind of standing there, but allowed images of Jesus getting crapped on to air about ten minutes later) that exists here, but why not just allow people to create objectionable material, regardless of who is objecting to it? Those who object to it are not being forced to watch it or read it. Is it not our right to build or write or just generally create something that is meaningful to us, even if others don't necessarily like it?

Now, to keep this just slightly on topic, I should be playing LBP within the week if my friend finally decides to get down to Gamestop and buy it. It looks freaking awesome!

Why? Because it's the thing we ignore and abuse the most. Freedom of Religon. Which is obviously a joke in this country in this day and age. Why are we heavily influenced by such power? People thrive off of it. They find shear pleasure in it and it would be great if someone would speak up for once in their miserable lives and tell the truth. Whatever happened to, IF YOU DON'T LIKE IT, THEN DON'T DO IT OR SAY IT. Yet, no. We gotta suck it up, bow down to someone else's needs because nobody has the freakin' balls to do it. That's the America we have.

Not the America told in history books, where one man. Like in the South Park episode, Cartman goes to 1776. Ben Franklin, a man who invented COMMON SENSE. Says, "We can appear to be a country for and against the war at the same time, thus not making us look like a weak country.

It's a man, like Ben Franklin. That I wish more people should follow than ANYONE else in this world.

Ask me again, why do you think we should? Because it takes ONE MAN to bring down an entire nation, ONE MAN to bring the people to their knees. Either he be a man of God or Political. He/She can get the job done right. Carsima perhaps or maybe just common sense when people are too scared to stand up. A Leader is born in the mist of a herd of sheep my friends. For they cannot speak for their true voices.

Re: The LittleBigPlanet Thread

This game is more difficult than I imagined, I have found myself trying to replay levels over and over again, and it appears that I am going to have go back through these multiple times because of so many missed items. Im so far done with the set of levels set in africa with zapata.

Timed Explosives ew!

Also, the game is excellent playing it co-op, the whole time I need a third controller to have even more fun on these levels. I loved my character, she is decked out in full wedding apparel.

People have every right to object to something (which is what I think you're getting at), but that doesn't mean that a person shouldn't have the right to create it. People shouldn't be so afraid of offense that they don't mention things that they don't like, problems they see in society. How are we to evolve if no one speaks up on what's wrong for fear of offending someone? Neither side has to bow to anyone's needs. The artist can still create, and people can still object. The artist doesn't have to jump and change what they have created the second someone objects though. That would be bowing to someone else's needs.

Franklin was one man who changed the world because he got others to come to his cause. He was not one man who snapped his fingers and had the world obey his every whim. This situation and censorship on the whole is more akin to the second one.

Okay, I can understand that you want one man to be able to change the world, and I support that. But we must not give one man so much power that he can make decisions that an entire country disagrees with (that is fascism). A man can change the world, but he must do it by rallying people to his cause and making them believe in it, and this is not what censorship represent. Censorship represents fascism, in which one person, or a hand full of people who are offended by something can get it banned throughout the entire country. That is far too much power to give a few people.

Re: The LittleBigPlanet Thread

I'm basically saying, people need control. It always takes one man to make them feel better about their decisions as a group and as a nation.

Art is only created by one visionary. Plus, how can you compare Art to important issues in people's everyday lives? Seems selfish and a contradiction to me.

I can't understand how you are deliberating trying to cut this down, when the answers are right there.

As you're sitting there typing, arguing, disagreeing as always. You pan to realize, that this is the way the real world is. Are you telling me, that I feel that people have no right to object? WRONG. The people speak, but nobody has the guts to make a decision, so that is why someone of power is needed to say it's okay. People need reassurance. It's common human nature to have someone of a proper position say it's okay.

Did you hear about the news story from a few years ago, about the U.S. Soldiers who were crossing into holy grounds in the Middle East and were forced to not go through? So did they just follow? NO. They bowed down to their needs and proceeded around the area. Since that is just common respect.

Plus, I firmly believe your idea of fascism, is not what you really think it is. Are you saying that because of this issue, they are exalting others needs over their decision based on the religious issue? I don't think so.

Fascism I'll break down for you in a few name drops if you wish. Mussolini, Hitler, Bin Laden, Fidel Castro, Hammurabi, Ramis the 3rd, Julius Cesar. Yeah, that's Fascist and totalitarian for you. Those mean had power to "Snap" their fingers and "Bow to every whim".

Re: The LittleBigPlanet Thread

Fascism: You have two cows. The government takes both, hires you to take care of them and sells you the milk.

Did GS call you yet Mega?

Re: The LittleBigPlanet Thread

Actually after re-reading this. Here's my final thoughts on the issue.

we will still stand strong as a nation to disagree or agree it's the moral of what the world sees us as that makes the most infliction to others around us.

and to quote cherry:

That the artist must not yield to those who are offended by what they create

I firmly understand now, what Cherry has stated.

Nope, GS never called me. Yet I need to bring the Chuck Norris pain to them.

Nintendo is lame. The levels are user created therefor should not be touched.

Agreed. And people seriously took days, maybe even weeks to make those.

Re: The LittleBigPlanet Thread

while i do understand that they might want to take out those levels, i think it's rather disappointing (i wanted to make world 1-1 through the last one T_T), but they also deleted the god of war levels so is not only nintendo......
