Just read it. Im really getting tired of these people blaming others for their lack of parenting.
 
People don't know anything. It isn't Rockstar's fault a modder (though I think hacker qualifies for this case) enabled minigames that would have given the game an AO rating. The minigames are not accessible as the game is purchased, meaning Gameshark/Action Replay etc is required to view the minigames. I'm with you, people need to stop beating on GTA just because it is a mature game. The only problem here is hackers...
 
there have been games that are 18+. and also you need a special patch to unlock the game


but the people do have a point the game was labled M but it has explicit sexual content that is just not acceptable for the title

Its labeled M because that part of the game is inaccessable. Its not like its a part of the game. Plus M is already for ages 17+. Which means that kids younger than that should not have it in there possession. Which means that their parents arent doing there job.
 
The parents aren't doing their job...that is no different than a parent letting a kid watch an "R" rated movie. Letting you kid get an "M" rated video =/= bad parenting. I'm not saying little kids should be playing Manhunt, but much of what they see via other means isn't much worse. Like, for instance, I was at my grandparents house, watching CNN. (Cause CNN is awesome and I had nothing to do before school started). You know what I saw? A man, in a wheelchair, being blown to pieces by a rocket. And close-ups of his remains. I did not have to pay, cheat, lie, or steal to see this, nor ask for parental permission. Video games are not the only place of blame by far.
 
Comparing CNN to video game content is like comparing apples to oranges. One is real life. A kid who sees something like what you described will note that it was bad. Yes it was grotesque. But there was a meaning behind showing the graphic images.
In games, however, there are kids who play out similar circumstances and don't have the feeling that what they are doing is bad, like in a news clip. I won't let my kids watch R rated movies or play M rated games. I will let them watch news segments that have graphic imagery because there is a moral behind the story. Well, most of the time.

Then yes.. this game should get an AO rating. Its just like an Easter Egg of some sort.. I mean... they know its there... and it will be discovered (another reason why its there... they want it to be discovered at some point). At least that is my take on it.

I really doubt they wanted it discovered. How can it be an easter egg. Its not meant to be in the game at all. They hid because its easier to do that then to just remove it from the game. But what is done is done and hopefully this doesnt lead to censorship of games or banning mature games.
 
So 17 year olds can't handle sexual content that strong, but 18 year olds can? Does one year really change anything?

Gimme a break. The product that Rockstar sold was rated M, partly for its strong sexual content. This shouldn't be shocking anyone.
 
It says "Strong Sexual Content" on the back.

Did that mean a hug to parents? Give me a break.

And Retro, Any games that have an AO rating can't be sold in retail stores. If GTA gets an AO rating, don't expect to see it at EB games.

that is true partents are the absolute law when i comes to what content comes to there house

but it is irresponsible to put content that is for 18+ and say it is rated M.

There is only a one year age difference. That seems drastic for a game that has that part of the game innaccessible.

About what? Still its drastic to do that when the change is only a one year age difference. Now had it been changed to 21 then that would be a different story. Rockstar made it inaccessible. Somebody from another country went ahead and hacked into the game. That means that Rockstar isnt responsible.
 
you still don't understand you really don't so I'm going to spell it out for you.

ROCKSTAR LIED that's what they did and there is noting you can say to change that. and when you bold face lie about something this big then you lose the trust of the American people. it was irresponsible for them to put that secret content in the game and when someone says something about it they lie! so it doesn't matter what the rating is wheather its 17 or 18 its the fact they would lie about something like that. and frankly i don't like being lied to...

so they made a super popular and well liked game but this has got to stop take some responsibly.

You still havent answered my question. What did they lie about? Why should they have to be responsible when the package clearly says "M rated for 17+". not only that but it also says:

Blood and Gore
Intense Violence
Strong Language
Strong Sexual Content
Use of Drugs

This clears them of responsibility. The thing is you dont get it. Parents need to stop looking for a scapegoat and take care of their own children. Not only that but instead of worrying about National security, terrorism, poverty, what does the government worry about the most? A friggin video game. these people need to shut up and take responsibility for their own children.

and strong sexual content and full blown sex are different things

and YOU need to understand is that parent need these things they don't know about these games so they need a rating system to help them. why have R rated and X rated movies? its only 1 year difference its sex and lots of it.

when they see the rating then they can make a judgement on the game on that rating. not every partent is going to know about whats in GTA but they can understand a BIG M 17+ on the box and say "hey this is not a good game to get my twelve year old" it makes the judgement process simpler.
