V_V (failing college courses)

Boom-shacka-lacka
I just got my final grades in today for college. For the most part, they were fine, except for one:

Calculus 1: F :'(

It hit me like a brick wall. Although currently my next semester has no pre-requesites to this class, explaining this to my parents is gonna kill me, since they pay for my college.

I'm at a real loss as to how to explain it to them. If anything, this was the one class I wanted to pass. I studied for the whole week for the final exam, and even that couldn't pull me out to a D. Anoyingly enough, I can't even take it this summer (you need to be registered before hand), and my fall sechedule is packed up.

I suppose the best I can say is that I'll save up my money from my summer job and pay for it next winter.

But there's no doubt they'll be dissapointed.

Ugh. That sucks. I just got a D in Geometry so I've been there. My parents freaked and I'm only in 8th grade so I can't imagine how angry your parents are you being in college. I feel for you. :-\

I passed my first semester of Advanced Placement Calculus with a C-.............and all of the seniors need to pass at least one semester of math their final year to graduate...........but second semester my AP English grade fell to a fairly low F, and you also have pass both semesters of that to graduate, so I sacrificed my second semester of Calc and dedicated it to English.....which I know have a low C in. My Calc grade is a very very low F now, but I dont need it, so I am in good shape I think.

Heh. In highschool I failed miserably in one of my math classes as soon as I was told that I had more math credits than I needed. I was told by my teacher to drop the class before the close of the semester. It was all good. 8)

I know how ya feel. I just cheated my way into 10th grade. I had 3 F's, and I sure as hell wasn't repeating 9th again, no sir. I just barely managed to get 5 credits :D.

Wow!! I feel sorry for you! (not that i am trying to upset you....) but i do! Dont worry!! I think you'll be able to pull it off with good grades in college! :D

Ouch. This thread is starting to making me think there's a link between video games and bad grades. :lol

Wouldn't know. I've been out of school for ten years already. No parents to yell at me, because I am the parent. No teachers to yell at me for slacking off. I have a wife for that now. And I could now buy any game I want and not have anyone tell me I can't. :D

Dude, that really sucks getting an F. I hate it when something you've worked so hard on really doesn't pay off, and you got the real bottom of it. But look on the bright side, at least it wasn't NA (Which over here means Not Accessed).

Look up! YOU CAN STILL PASS YOUR COLLEGDE COURCE!!!!!

GO NOVA GO! GO NOVA GO! GOOOOO NOVA!!!!!!!!

Not to be mean or anything, but it's kinda your own fault. If you applied yourself in everything of the class, not just the final, you could have gotten at least a C if you just naturally suck at Calc.

And have you ever even looked at calculus? It's like someone speaking Martian to me.

Yes, I have, and just to say, I'm fricking 13. I have no clue how to do it, but why should I? I'm not expected to. Of course you won't be good at something if you don't practice and study, that's why you do it. That's probably why the person took it is because they didn't get it(well...).

Well, you study to get better, you know. If you practice, you get good at something. Whose fault could it be if not theirs that they failed?

Uh, no. Videogames didn't corrupt my grades. It was my own doing.

And the reason you shouldn't be home schooled is because your parents are the ones teaching you.

That's the advantage of homeschooling your parents decide your grades :D

But that puts you at a disadvantage from a social stand point. School isn't all about grades, it's about social interaction as well. People who go to a traditional school have better social skills and usually have more friends than the kids who stay at home all day and receive instruction from parents or tutors.

im finishing up my first year of college...so far its all smooth sailing...i did have one C...but other than that all A's and a few B's

Highschool was a different story...i didn't do a thing as far as school work. My freshman year was abismal, i did improve a bit each year, but not a whole lot. I ended up with a low 2 gpa. But i owned the act so i basically slacked my way into a decent school. But its all good now... :lol
