I mean, really, Donkey Kong? Everyone thought it would bomb. NES? Total failure? Ha! Touch screen, a gimmick? Right. And the latest, the Wii, another 'gimmick'. It'll probably end up just like the DS.

Or not. I reckon Nintendo are still going hard at it, and will until they run out of money. Or at least till Sony or Microsoft buys them out. :lol I can actually imagine that.

Nintendo has to agree to being bought out. Which they won't. And yeah, Hines is right, the best is *sadly* Killzone.

Heh. I see it now. Sony comes in and says something like, "Hey. We would like to buy Nintendo. Hey Microsoft, can we have a loan to pay Nintendo's stock holders and buy out the Big N?" To which Microsoft says, "Can't do it right now. We're using the profits from the Vista to fuel the 360 right now. So cash is a little slim at the moment."

The way businesses buy out rivals is when they are profitable, and the target company is not. Not the other way around. So bottom line is, it ain't gonna happen.

Sony'd hafta pay Microsoft to take the PS3, though. It's that bad.

The DS touchscreen and the Wii motion controls are basically the definition of gimmick: "...an ingenious or novel device, scheme, or stratagem, esp. one designed to attract attention or increase appeal..." So isn't that exactly what the Wii motion controls and DS touchscreen are?

EDIT: Plus, many Wii games have a gimmicky quality and lack any real depth. Sure, there's Zelda, Super Paper Mario, and RE 4 (which is really just a remake), but everything else is total crap. The Wii's library is just as anorexic as the PS3's.

Fine, but they meant gimmick in the, "It isn't gonna do anything it'll just be pointless" sorta way.

EDIT: Developers have apologized for the crap of their Wii titles, actually, and they've taken a real interest in making sure they're good.

Okay but that doesn't change that the Wii doesn't have a lot of titles right now, definitely not enough for it to be a hardcore gamer's only system. The way I see it, the Wii is in the same position as the PS3 in terms of games, but the Wii is affordable, and has appealed to casual gamers so it has been successful.

more like the definition of ''sixaxis''
Sixaxis is ingenious? I don't think so. I think it kind of sucks.

It's not even being used in just about every game. The Wii was never a hardcore only system.

Are you talking about Sixaxis there, or Wii motion controls, or what?

I never said it was. I said at this point, for a hardcore gamer, the Wii just simply isn't enough. Same with the PS3.

Most the people I know that picked up a Wii haven't played it in months. It was fun for the first week though. The controls in every game just feel tacked on. Hopefully that'll change in the future.

Developers already said they're doing that, now that they've seen it's actually a success.
