Wow! Homemade lightsaber duel video!

excluding the fact that the were dressed like normal teenagers,and a couple times the Lightsaber did not do exactly what the handle did...great stuff. I would give it a 9/10 for an amateur video

Whats up with the end?...did the guy have a clone,or was his first death a fake?
 
I'm guessing it was a droid ala Empire Strikes Back or a Jedi mind trick.

The normal clothes bothered me too, but I think the fact it was basically all done by those two kids was pretty cool.
 
The acting is laughable (literally) and it is obvious neither of these gents has talked to a girl in years. :lol

But, being someone who has been involved in class project movies that involved light saber battles, these guys are really good. The action, for amateurs, is incredible, and the SFX is great. It must have taken them a very long time to complete this. I'm talking months of sitting in front of a computer doing this by hand.
 
I didn't watch this video (narrowband) - but to answer your question stealth - yes, rotoscoping and other similar sfx effects, if actually done by hand, do take forever.

And I mean forever.
 
What alternatives exist to doing it by hand? Is there some kind of program one can download which assists in this process?

Cuz if there is, I'd really like to know. :D

As far as I'm aware, based on no research, there is no way to do it other than hand. I believe I checked at the time I was doing the rotoscoping, but I didn't see anything immediately other than hand-step-procedures. There may be a program out there, but if there is such a thing I'm not aware. Really, rotoscoping isn't that bad. It's kind of fun, just overly repetitive after a while. As long as the scenes are changing it's very fun and rewarding.

yeah.. that was actually really well done. There were a few things that just didn't make sense... IE they could have gone for the kill faster.

Man.. the smaller kid kept getting kicked and punched :lol he was getting punkbusted left and right.

That was a cheap shot when they were fighting in the air for the saber :lol then the other guy opened the saber into the other guy.... That was funny though.

I've actually got a few videoes of me/my friends using lightsabers, fully rotoscoped and all. Next time I'm around a broadband connection I'll try to get them up for people to laugh at.
 
I still think the ending was pretty funny...

Just the look on the kids face to taps the light saber on and off... :lol
