FInal Fantasy XII

I kind of agree, but it is a fresh change. I havent played this game for a while and i was a good 15-20 hours in. Soon here I think i'm gonna start over and give it a fresh start... i think it just got overshadowed by other games

Same here, plus I think my guys got under leveled somehow.

I dunno, I just can't enjoy the fighting system. Maybe I need to get used to it, but I hate when there's too much going on the screen at once and having no control over what my characters do (the Gambit system is too clustered for me).

I loved this game when I first started to play it, as is evidenced in my posts, but then I came across the gambit system and ehh...bring back turn-based, I don't care if it's "out of date". It's just plain better.

My roomate (who purchased the collector's edition the day it came out because he's a huge FF nerd) never once used the gambit system in the game. Well, that's not true, he occasionally used it when he was levelling up and was in no danger of dieing. But for every boss battle and every time he went to a new area he always turned all his gambits off. I play the game more or less the same way. Boss battles, there's no question, gambits are off because I need to know exactly what each character is doing. I'm a little more liberal with using the gambit system outside of boss battles, but as soon as things get tough, I take it off.

In all honesty, I really don't like the gambit system either, so I just didn't use it that often (it kinda pissed me off how "gambits" were an item but you couldn't sell them, because I found them to be useless and could have used the cash instead). If you don't like the gambit system, you're not alone, but you can turn it off. I would actually encourage it.

I also didn't like how you didn't actually have to push a button to attack once your meter was full, you just kind of walked up to the enemy and the CPU did the rest. I figured if they were gonna make the battles real-time (which I think was the best idea they've had for the series in half a decade) they should have gone all the way and actually let you push a button to swing your sword and block with your shield, but at least what they did do was a step in the right direction. And the way they did it, turn based fans such as yourself could still enjoy a turn based style fighting system.
