Gas prices. -- $5 coming soon due to Hurricane Rita?

Okay, I know this is a bit off topic for this forum, but I'd like to know how everyone here who drives is coping with the sudden rise in gas prices?? Yesterday morning I noticed the price for regular unleaded was $2.56. Yesterday going home it was $2.88. Good thing my truck isn't required to have the 91 octane, otherwise I'd be paying well over $3.00 a gallon.
So how are you all handling it??

Re: Gas prices.

$2.56 is the lowest right now and I think the highest is $2.70-.80 somewhere around there. Dart, least your not driving a '98 Ford Expedition, takes like $80 just to fill it up, its a gas guzzler.

Re: Gas prices.

I'm not sure how much it is today, but the cheapest place around here is 3.29 a gallon and the most is 3.35 for REGULAR...

Re: Gas prices.

no.... as of yesterday it jumped to CHEAPEST $3.19..... and we've been an area that has not been near the highest..... I'd say around the lower range of prices.

most expensive yesterday was $3.40

Economists think its going to hit over $4.00 per gallon.

*laughs at the guy with the SUV* I would never own an SUV. 1. It eats up way too much gas and 2. I dont need an SUV in Los Angeles. It's overkill. Actually its overkill just about anywhere unless you have lots of children to drive around.

OH and gas around here is between $2.80 and $3.05

No its not. This is general discussion, unless a mod moved it here. And now with this whole New Orleans crisis, prices are expected to rise even more. I think im going to have to start riding a bike.

Re: Gas prices.

I got it for 2.72 at the lowest price in the area right before it went up to 3.29.........i should be good for another week or so with my cavalier, i think i can compensate enough to get me through for another couple of months.

Its not my SUV anyways so really doesn't matter to me. My dad was planning on trading in his Expedition and getting a H2, now that's a gas guzzler!

I remember when gas was like $1.65, etc when I was younger but after that 9/11 incident everything that has to do with resources just skyrocketed.
