Official Nintendo DSi thread

Hey guys I've seen previous post about the new Nintendo DS, the DSi but lets make this official. I know that you guys have mixed feelings about the new handheld but lets go through some of the pros and cons of the system. Lets start with the pros.

Pros.
* I think something really cool about the system is that fact that you can hook up to the Nintendo on-line store using Nintendo points to the DSi Shop Channel an download DSi games and app (like the wii).
* The Dsi will have system specific software (called DSi ware) One of the first pieces of software available for the DSi is called "Moving Notepad" which allows users to create their own cartoons using the touchscreen, camera, and record audio through the mic.
* The DSi has removed the gba slot and inserted as sd slot (external storage) for saving and viewing picture, downloaded software, and to play audio (for music)
* The DSi has added two .3 megapixel digital cameras which can each take photos (one camera on the inside hinge, the other on the outside faceplate cover) The cameras can also be used in games, like the new Wario Ware!
* The DSi comes equipped with an internal flash memory 256mb worth
* The DSi is smaller in comparison to the DS lite (not that this means much to me).
* Larger screens have been added (now 3.5 inches)
* Built in web browser

Cons
* The Price range for the DSi might hold some consumers back (priced roughly at $179-$192)
* Lower battery life only 14 hours compared to the 19 you get with the DS lite.
* No GBA slot, so all of you advance games and even DS games like the guitar hero's are unplayable.
* Since the gba slot has been removed that means game like Pokemon Diamond and Pearl will no longer be backwards compatible
* The DSi has went back to the power button (like on the original DS) I really do perfer the power switch, for some reason i always hit the power button and turn off my game.

In conclusion I DO like the new DSi and i plan on getting one on launch set sometime in spring 09. :D

I actually don't like the fact that it will be smaller than the DS Lite. For one, does that means the speakers will be even crappier? And also, the DS Lite is very fragile. I mean, the thing is a portable and it's going to get beat up pretty well, so I'd rather have a little beefier machine that can withstand abuse. But those are small complaints overall and I am pretty excited to see what they can do with the SD slot. You better post up pictures and thoughts when you get yours! :)

and Japan is already receiving 3 more additional color choices.

I've still got the same feeling for this as when the news was first released. Not interested. I wonder when the next real Nintendo handheld will come out.

I just got my good ol' DS Lite customized not too long ago... it's a sexy green-and-black now.

I'm far too obsessed with it to even think about the DSi.
