I never owned a Genesis, but my Grandma bought one for us for when we came over way back in the day. I really only remember some Indycar-style racing game, a Sonic game, and monopoly haha.

This game Rocks. I used play at my friends house all time and it rock.
In my opinion it's a shame to see a very good game go to waste.
what ever did happen to this game. i miss it every much. 8)

I somehow ended up with 3 Genesis (Genesi?) I have my original Model 1 and 2 Model 2's. I even have a Nomad. Nothing beats Sonic 1 in its original cart form.

That is very true.
I just got my Sonic 1 game cart not to long ago. 8)

I totally agree with you on Sonic 1. I can still remember picking up my Genesis 1 with the Sonic 1 pack in and a copy of Hellfire. Awesome days back then. Spent weeks with those games.

I played the first 3 Sonics from the time i was 4 til i was twelve at least a few times a week. Started with one and kept going as they came out.

My daughter ran across this chicken & dumpling recipe made in a slow cooker while on Pinterest. My Wife made that today with homemade biscuits used for the dumplings. I think I found a new comfort food. Yummy! :)

Chicken and Dumplings are fire. You really can't go wrong with them.

Apparently you have not lived long enough. I have had some that were just blah bad and wondered, what where they thinking? :lol

yeah, had a girlfriend that could screw up boiling chicken... she'd also use can biscuit dough for dumplings, it was disgusting

If you get the good canned biscuits its good. Not as good as homemade but it can be good cause sometimes my moms does that when she is pressed for time. But my mom knows how to cook like no other.

I think most moms know how to cook pretty well.

This site is sure showing good signs of death with all the spambot threads suddenly grabbing it by the throat.
The halls are echoing silence while a dusty controller lies upon the floor.
Only ghostly figures and shadows of better days which are like a lite mist in the sunlight through a lonely window.
The smell of musty old game carts with faded labels spark nostalgic memories and happier times.
The tears run down like rain washing away the years stored like an old book.

Where are the gamers?
How has the times changed?
Habits search for different owners and find nothing?
Darkness falls across the consoles stored in the attic?
Have we become the older generation of gamers?

It seems that the old format of forums are no match for New technology & Culture. Somehow the baton was not handed down to the next generation of gamers. They found new ways to form a community of excitement around their beloved consoles. I think the forums have been replaced. Connection between the gaming systems online, texting, twitter, Facebook, blogging, etc, have given new avenues for expression that have buried the old forum way of meeting other gamers. Gaming Forums boomed & served a purpose for a pacific time in the era of the internet. But I think their days are basically over. Just my opinion. :'(

Noooooo neverrrr haha. I'm not sure where this generation of gamers are . I haven't done enough peeking around to see if other forums are suffering the same fate as EGA or not. You would think that the community aspect would still have some value...I can't imagine Facebook groups and twitter posts would be broad enough and close-knit enough to work like a forum. But who knows?

Most of the forums I used to visit have either been closed, locked, or looks like this one. Of course they are mostly retro orientated. But there were a few that were busy DS or 3DS forums that just ended with last posted several years ago, puzzled about that one. I would think that a forum would be the best way to meet gamers from around the globe and form a community that would not be so localized. I would think it would be a good way to maintain life.

But still, I'm not sure how you fully explain such a abandonment of a good site like this one has been in the past. The gaming industry is still alive so it can't be a loss of interest in gaming. I really don't want to hear the, "I grew up" crap. Unless I am an immature 58 year gamer. :lol I know I cannot be unusual. But there is the possibility that the present gaming offerings are not up to par with the previous generations of consoles. I can relate to that. That is why I have plunged into retro gaming so deep.

Has the super powerful graphic heavy consoles killed gaming for some people? Has it stifled creativity in the industry? Are they too focused on the same game engine churning out the same game, only with different characters, different backgrounds, etc? Has game "name here" number 16 created mediocrity among gamers and the game companies? It can be a vicious cycle. If so, we almost need a new game console company to through some gasoline on the fire before it goes out. Sega where are you?

Somehow I feel the excitement is not there anymore.

Actually, It's the opposite. It's caused a mini-revolution within gaming itself. AAA developers and publishers are losing more customers to indie titles. Steam, and the PC platform, have allowed smaller developers to release games that would normally not get the green light from big publishers. And it's finally spilled over to consoles.

There are some incredible indie games that have been released in the past couple of years that rival AAA titles.

For you Retro, I would highly recommend checking out Steam and peruse the indie titles. There are many games that are throwbacks to the 8-bit era but contain newer mechanics and gameplay. I truly think you'd be impressed.
