You've got to be kidding me Sony...

but you know for MMOs that kind of capacity it would be really good, imagine bigger maps, more monsters and even more quests. MMOs or RPGs will be good on the ps3,

The PS3 as it is now would not be a good platform for MMOs. Not because of its technology, but because one of the requirements of a good MMO is that it needs to be played by a lot of people. The PS3 by itself doesn't have enough of a userbase for a good MMO yet. If the MMO was cross compatible with other platforms, though, it might work. But then it wouldn't be exclusive.

then why doesnt it play dvds?

good point, :( if nintendo wanted to make a forecast channel and a news channel why not a DVD channel?

Just because you have a DVD lens does not mean that you can read whatever you want. There are specific lasers that can only read, write, etc. For example, a PC superdrive. It can read CD's and DVD's but can only burn CD's. That's because it has a specific laser that can only write on CD's but not DVD's. Even if you have DVD burning software on your PC, you still wouldn't be able to.

Now, yes the Wii does use optical discs. They are still proprietary discs but have the same capacities as DVD's.

i meant reading

there is no dvd lense that only reads ''some'' dvds

whats proprietary mean?

You can lock out lasers to only read certain DVD's. Meaning the DVD's themselves will have certain code to let the lens know that it can play.

Proprietary means that it's unique to that system. It was made for the Wii and for the Wii only. Nothing else can use it.

well i have my ps2 for DVD and i have a DVD in home too so another DVD it wouldn't really be useful
