The offical FALLOUT 3 Thread

I like them if they're not stated right after a game's release.
Even so, what is the difference? It's still just an expansion out. The date isn't of great importance. It's a bonus for the player that just finished it and wanted to play more.

Yeah but if they do the expansion right after the release of the game, why couldn't they have put that in the game in the first place? :-/ That makes the game look half done and they're charging for stuff that should've been in there in the first place.

True, but it could've been completely seperate from the main story and just a side story to play if you seriously wanted it. Seriously, it's not that big of a deal, I don't see the problem in it.

Seriously, it isn't a big deal. Paying $60 though is already high enough for a game. And if an expansion is announced or released following a game's release, you're going to be paying $70, $80+ for a full game. Main story or not.

I like expansions. It dives deeper into the story that wasn't touched in the main game. :-\
The thing is that the third one is basically the end of the game's story. It's a continuation of the main quest and you have to pay an extra $10 for it...wtf? >_>

Well, the Brotherhood Outcasts were just dead weight in the original game. The only thing they did was trade technology for caps. An entire faction that was just a glorified trading post. Bethesda then, two months later, brings out an "expansion pack" that involves the Outcasts. They wouldn't have made the Outcasts a part of the game if they were just there to trade with, so I'm thinking that Bethesda just wanted some more money so they decided to release content they very easily could have gotten into the original game as $10 expansion packs. I personally think that sucks.

I'd rather have the expansions than a rushed game.

I'm not talking about rushed. I'm saying whenever they're finished they should release it, but I don't think they should wait three years to release it if they don't have to. Unless they make the scale of the game absolutely massive, I don't think it will actually take them three years to finish. Plus, they will probably release expansions either way as people are buying them.

When I said 2011, that's only a couple years away. I hate seeing games come out that are yearly and unnecessary. I agree that whenever they're finished they should release it, but I'm hoping for an early 2011 showing myself, so they can add more to the gameplay mechanics, animations, and voice work than in Fallout 3. And I also agree that there will be expansions no matter what, unfortunately...I just wish they'd hold out a little while before introducing them like with GTA IV.

Anchorage changes the game mechanic slightly to add a fun little twist. Since its a VR mission, your weapons/supplies are predetermined and all health and ammo comes from scattered "refill" stations. Finished it in about 5 hours on Very Hard with a gimped character, though didn't find all the documents first time through.

Whether or not it's worth the extra $10 bucks, that depends on how much you love Fallout 3.

Well, I just mastered Fallout 3 completely. 1100/1100 achievements :) Feels good to be done with it for now, until the next expansion arrives! :)
