Convince me to get this instead of the X-Box 360

The Wii and the PS3 both have limited libraries due to their infancy. Look at all the upcoming games for both systems and then see which one has the games that you really want more. Don't buy a system now just because of future games either. Wait until those games come out and then purchase both the games and the system at the same time.

^ Actually, that's a really good point. I'm very happy with my PS2, GBA and SNES right now. I would actually prefer to add an original Xbox rather than buy any of the current big 3 offerings...

Eh. Motor storm isn't something I would pee myself over, nor was Virtua Fighter 5. Plus swho knows how good motorstorm will actually be. 8)

Yea for real. the game play and controls were pretty bad in the demo....and graphics don't make a game. So idk, I wouldn't buy a system for a mediocre racing game.

and u should already know aboout the big update download coming out this month.. about making a character and having a room and there making something like acheivments

People have already seen that with the Wii and the 360. I don't think that little update (if it doesnt cause ur ps3 to crash) will warrant a $600 purchase. I jus don't think it's worth it right now...maybe 5 years down the line.

yea i mean, if they expect regular consumers to drop half a grand or more on what most people see as a "toy", then they must have rocks in their heads.

Well a thousand dollars isn't as much money as it was way back in the NES days. Adjusted for inflation, the NES probably costs upwards of $300. $1000 in 2010 (around when the PS4 will probably come out) will be like the price of the Saturn when that ccame out (okay maybe a little more). 8)

The only reason the PS3 is at $600 is because it contains blu-ray. If it didn't then it would priced the same as the 360. Sony would probably sell the PS4 at $600 again.

Thank you! That is what I have been saying all along! If the 360 came with the HD-DVD Player built-in, it would be $600.00 also. It is the cost of that part alone that drove up the price.

Yea exactly, I don't want a blu-ray player though, I want a game console. And it's not cool that we have to pay extra for a mandatory feature. I mean, I know it has some benefits for gaming such as larger disc capacity {correct me if that's wrong} but look at say, a 360 game such as Oblivion; I am perfectly content with that technology! Heck, even regular Xbox and PS2 games are still very impressive to me, so I guess for me the cost just isn't worth it when there's other, cheaper, means to get a satisfying gaming experience. Don't get me wrong though, I'm not trying to start a pissing match over consoles, I'm just merely stating my opinions on the PS3. I hope I don't offend anybody, 'cause that's not my intention :)
