NAM-1975 is probably one of the most challenging and unique shooting games on the Neo Geo. You must blast through several levels of Vietnam inspired carnage, taking down enemy soldiers and helping out defenseless hostages. Graphics: Graphically, NAM depicts war perfectly. The levels are dark and eerie, with much attention to detail and color. You and the game enemies look incredible because of super-smooth animation and mind blowing detail that very few games even today seem to have. The game also has some of the best in-game cinematics you can find on the Neo Geo. They’re interesting to watch and also help the game’s plot to unfold smoothly. Music: While the music and sounds aren’t as strong as the game’s graphics, what is here suits the action well. The tunes are catchy to listen to while blowing enemies away, but you won’t be humming anything to yourself like you would with the King of Fighters games or Magician Lord. Sound effects are a mixed bag. They’re good, but seem a bit muted out and garbled while in the middle of the game. The main characters speaking voice in the cinematics however is clear as a whistle and is also awesome to listen to. Gameplay: The gameplay in NAM-1975 makes this a classic Neo Geo title in every respect. You take control of your soldier in a 3rd person point of view and move from left to right on a one layer plane shooting at enemies by targeting them with a cursor. The d-pad moves your soldier and cursor, but don’t be alarmed, as difficult as this sounds, the premise is very simple and easy to get into. You also aren’t limited to moving from left to right; in chaotic situations where bullets are flying from all corners of the screen, you can tumble your way to safety by either running or dropping and rolling. Only thing you can’t do here is jump, which would have added to the gameplay considerably. Overall: NAM-1975 is a classic in every sense of the word. The game is both challenging and addicting and because of the practically impossible end boss, you’ll be playing this game for many sunrises. (Kat, San Francisco)

NAM-1975 is the kind of game you do not want to play if you were in Vietnam between 1967-75.I mean the game is so realistic you would think you were back looking for “Charlie” in the bushes. So pack your bags soldier you are in for one ultimate shooter. (Michael Niemiec, Illinois)

Score: 10 out of 10
NAM-1975 is one of the best Neo-Geo games of all time. I, for one, took notice of the Neo Geo MVS system because of this game. The graphics, sound, and gameplay were light-years ahead of its time. The incredible amount of detail, ranging from the beautifully drawn background, to the blood-curdling scream of an enemy soldier, was in a class of its own. Back when BGM and sound effects were limited to blips and bleeps, Nam-1975 was cranking out huge explosions, digitized speech, and mood-setting musical tracks. For graphics, NAM-1975 was also top of its class. From bullet-ridden warplanes, smoothly-animated enemy grunts, to the in-game cinemas, this game rules. (bigpsycho213, Los Angeles)
